BodyPump bottom halves?

I know that Bodypump is frowned upon by proper weight lifters, and I do love doing less reps with heavier weights, but my gym only has a smith machine, and I got stuck with a 25kg bar on my back (pre-weighted bars) cos I couldn't lift it off (the squats were a piece of p!ss though lol!)
However-my body has changed (a lot for the better) with pump, so I tend to do one class a week, but was wondering of anyone can tell me if there is any point to bottom halves? (ie when you do the rep to the end -like squat to parallel but then only come half way back up before going back to the bottom) Cos I can't quite figure if there is!

I don't think I'm coming up too far, they hurt like hell, but I have read so much about heavy lifting and full ROM I worry just doing the bottom half is just putting extra strain on the muscle, but without a major benefit

(I go deep on my squats in pump, it seems a lot of the other people in the class's "bottom" is my "half way")

Yeah, those do burn like hell. Just need a good song to inspire you..haha. My favorite instructors say to come up only 1/2" to 1". No, I honestly don't know the benefits of each of the moves, I just like the class as a whole and keep coming back
