Lots of people do it - if you use the "search" function you'll find many threads and support groups.
What do you mean by "low carb"?
Typical menu - eggs or fish for breakfast, salad or soup for lunch, protein and veg for dinner. Cut down on bread, pasta, rice.0 -
worked for me, as I teeter towards diabetes.
Didn't eat biscuits, bread, cereals, cookies, crisps, chips, cake, fries, fruit, pasta, pies, pizza, potato, rice etc0 -
Since I went keto, I've lost a little over 20 lbs. I would research keto before giving it a try.0

Unless you have a medical reason, a low carb diet may not be a good idea. You want to change your eating habits in a way that is sustainable so you don't gain back any weight you lose. I recommend that you cut out processed grains and stick to only whole grains.0

As a vegetarian, I stick to about 40-50% of my calories from carbs. Whatever your macros, what creates weight loss is having a caloric deficit.0

I do keto and plan on doing low carb/paleo-ish (not keto) for life. It works for me, going low carb helped me lean out (finally!), If you are doing keto, the flu is a bit of a drag, but after that you'll feel awesome.
Overall, the calorie deficit is what makes you lose weight but switching your metabolic functions (keto does it to where it is primarily fat instead of carbs) makes it TONS easier. I have a very busy lifestyle as of late and keto has made weight loss so easy.0 -
I tried a low carb diet once and I felt tired and crappy all the time. Now I just eat healthy, stay in a calorie deficit, and I lose about 1 lb a week on average and I feel great the entire time. Carbs are my friend.0

I'm doing a very low carb diet (nutritional ketosis). Feeling great & have achieved other health benefits (like no more gut pain for one!).
My diary is open.0 -

My doctor advised me to try a low carb diet since I was struggling to lose weight. Just calorie counting was leaving me really hungry, so she advised that I try to eat around 30 to 50 grams of carbs a day and fill up on fat and proteins and I found that it really worked. I was always really full and after a while I was always eating under my calorie limit as well as my carb limit. I'm a vegetarian, so I'm sure it's easier if you can eat chicken or something, but I eat a lot of salads, soups, eggplant, tofu, and I have a great recipe for crustless quiche. Give it a try, though I did find that carb cravings get really bad when I get stressed. Check with your doctor before you do keto, though! A lot of people have problems with it and you should figure out what level is good for you before you do anything to strict. Cutting carbs in general might help, though. If you cut out bread, rice, etc for a few weeks you might find that you stay a lot fuller longer!0

I'm on a low carb diet.
In April on 2012 I found out that I was pre-diabetic (insulin resistant) and had PCOS. My doctor advised me to read a book called the Insulin Resistance Diet - Link and Balance and it changed my life.
I do eat carbs and do not cut them completely out of my diet. I find that carbs keep me fuller longer and it helps my body to function. What I do is stick to a 7 protein to 15 carb ratio that doesn't exceed 30 carbs at any meal. I LINK and BALANCE my protein with a carb. I am also gluten free.
Some of my meal examples....
Breakfast
Egg with 2 egg whites or Turkey Sausage
WITH 2 slices of french toast or a cup of chex cereal with almond milk or corn tostadas with guacamole.
Lunch
Left over dinner meat or deli meat w/ a huge salad and fruit
Left over dinner
Tostadas with any kind of ground meat
Dinner:
Lean Meat: Fish, Turkey, Chicken, Lean Ham, Lean Beef. Indian Curry Chicken has been one of my favorite.
WITH beans, potato, tostadas or tacos, tons of veggies, Gluten Free pasta sides (portioned to under 30 carbs)
Snacks:
Jerky or Smoked Turkey Sausage w/ Fruit
Nuts w/ Hummus and Chips
Really I eat whatever I want, I just taught myself how to portion control without going over that ratio.
Long story short, I lost 101 pounds in 16 months and am currently maintaining. I exercise 2 - 3 times a week and I no longer have PCOS of pre-diabetes.
I have an open diary for friends if you'd like to add me.0
