Hello fellow riders! I need your feedback. I am planning on purchasing the Garmin Edge 510 bike computer (Performance Bundle). What do you consider the pros and cons? Is the heart rate accurate?

Just got the Garmin Edge 510 up and running today. Heart Rate seems to be good, automatic calibration takes about half a mile to do, (do it in unhindered road conditions,no matter what type of bike it is)
So far the 510 is running great and has picked up my powertap and HR strap with no problems and the GSC10 on my mountaionbike grabs its attention right away too, as long as it's battery isn't dead.....
Cons? None that I can see right now. Still dialing in the activity profiles and such. Except for calorie count. Seems low. My 510 with same strap said I would burn 1000 calories for 1 hr and 20 minutes. same style of ride this time, only showed 700+ with the 510...
Pros I used the garmin edge 500 before this and I loved that, I thought it was worth upgrading to the 510 for the live tracking option. As well as the better customization features.
It is almost twice as long, ALMOST, it's not, but close to almost twice as long, with width being about the same. Bigger screen easier to read numbers. Same size as 810 which the pros use to race with so using the 500 because its smaller is moot.
Touch screen is awesome, pressure sensitive, not touch, thats how you can do it with regular gloves on. Tough to get used to initially. But that is brief.
Mine did not come with the out front mount, so I can't let you know how that is, but I have the K-edge aluminum mega beautiful gunmetal anodized out front mount which has good adjustability for the 500, 510 800 and 810.
That's all I can think of briefly, I'll post additional thoughts/comments as I get this thing tuned in and get riding a lot.0 -
So Far, after a few weeks of using it, I am enjoying the livetrack feature. The screen is bigger so helps with reading while riding. Never was a problem road riding and I only had Speed, HR, Distance up when I was MTBing. So it's easier to read those three plus the time of day and time are able to be up on screen without sacrificing viewability. You can put up to 10 things on screen at once so, if you REALLY need all that.....
One feature that I wanted on the 500 but never had, was the ability to change bikes and have the screen change to what I ride with. Because I have a powertapon my road bike, I usually have like 6 things on my screen, with MTBing I only needed 3 visible. For the 500, even though I changed the bike I was using, I still had to have a separate page for MTBing setup at the end. Not a real problem, but a small annoyance.
Now, I can change bikes on front screen easily, I have setup two separate pages for Road Training and Racing and one for MTBing. All accessible from opening screen.
Heart rate seems accurate, I was using an older HR monitor strap and had no problems the first week. However, I rode one day and it could not find the sensor at all, changed the batteries and it still couldn't find it. So I got a new one. Works great. Seems pretty accurate, although, even though I have my weight put in there, it still counts calories as if I were a 150 lb rider. I'm 251.....yeah, a little low. Although, that was before I got the new HR strap and this past MTB excursion on Saturday had me on a 2 hour 49 min ride and had me at 1808 calories. So it seems like it's getting there or good now. Or I just hadn't been busting my *kitten* as much as I thought?? LOL
The touch screen works, even with gloves, although the movement has to be deliberate. So it may seem finicky to some people.
It's been a pleasure using it and well worth the upgrade from the 500.0
