  • What is your definition of a break? If you mean just taking a break from exercising everyday and counting every single calorie then yes it would be okay, but you mean all out no exercising and eating junk then no.

taking a break? Lol, thats what got me here in the first place . About a 10 year break and uh oh

I d keep on keeping on, and break when its all maintenance.....stay focused and stay with the rythm for sucess......just my opinion

Im lucky, Im up at 5 to drive to the gym and work out for about 2 hours now, so Im keeping the "bug" and staying focused.......Good luck, Lloyd
  • ohh and I forgot to add that in order to make this last then you have to think of it as a lifestyle change, so you can't take a break from your lifestyle.

define break. If it's a break in exercise once a week then yes. If it's a break from changing your lifestyle and watching your calories/food intake then I say no :)

Take a break from health? No way. I believe in order to turn bad habits into good habits there is no stopping. Having a treat? Yes. Not exercising one or two days a week? Yes. But a break from it all? No way. At least not for me.

No, no, no . . . I've spent most of my adult life making one excuse after another . . . "just this once" . . . "I'll start my diet on Monday" . . .
I will NEVER take a break from my new lifestyle . . . I will have a beer on the occasional hot day, or a small piece of cake on a special occasion . . . but a break (?) . . . not on your life!

I agree! I took a break 9 months ago and gained every pound, plus 5

Just keep plugging along for now and when you get to where you're happy, take a day where you don't exercise, or maybe treat yourself to a goodie. Just try not to make a habit of it.

You've made the decision to get healthier, and you've worked so hard to get to where you are. No one wants to see you undo it!

A break for a day? Yes, that's ok. A break for a few days, week, etc.? Nooooo. I took a break in March and didn't come back until September!

You guys/ladies are all awesome. I agree with everything you said. it's funny how one excuse can lead to 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year. I'm still carrying "baby" weight...and my baby is 8. ugh.

    thanks for all your thoughts.

We all get burned out. We're in this forever so there's no urgency. Feel free to eat at maintenance for a few days and go for a walk instead of hitting the gym.

Or maybe you can just change it up. Sick of spinning? Try Zumba (or make whatever substitution you like).

Sick of chicken breast? Why not have omelettes for dinner?

Whatever you chose, we're here for you :)

For me, it's too easy to get derailed when I allow myself to "take a break". I think that's what got me here in the first place. So if by "take a break" you mean a day to not worry about exercise and maybe not be so restrictive in what you eat, then I say that's OK, as long as you don't go all outcrazy and undo all of your hard work. It's ok to take a "time out" but not OK to "check out".
