Workout Compression Gear - worth it?

Hi,
I primarily wear tights to stop chafing (inner thigh) and understand people with loose skin or ungainly lumps using compression stuff for aesthetic reasons.
Though personally I wouldn't do that, if it makes me uncomfortable to wear it, it's not worth it.
It's also kind of false advertising especially if worn prior to getting into a relationship
[disclaimer - I may make exceptions for awesome shoes]
BUT...
Is compression workout gear actually doing good things for you?
Claims I have seen:- decreases DOMS, increases performance during workouts, assists in recovery, assists in exercises that target muscles under compression, etc
what is your experience with them? is it fashion or is it function? do they help you? are they worth the price tag? did you buy them for health reasons or cause they make you look awesome?

Well, I do not wear full body compression "work out gear" yet...but I do wear a body suit...full thigh and upper body with shoulder straps. It stops my jiggle, prevents chafing AND I DO beleive it has helped me in toning and tightening, versus when i used to work out without it. I would feel incredible uncomfortable if EVERYTHING on me was moving when I work out...I have enough issues with the boobs. Its not so tight I can't breath. Just tight enough I don't jiggle all over. I want compression pants, but can't find any that don't majorally bite into my stomach, and compression tops ride up my tummy when I get going so I'd have to wear them underneath other stuff...that seems like a pain to me so I haven't done it yet. I have a belly band too that is supposed to help with all that...it's not comfortable. I don't wear it...but for me it's not about just needing it to help cinch the waste, I'm supposed to wear it while doing abdominal exercises to help heal my ab diastasis. It just sucks....perhaps I will wear it more after I lose more I don't know. I haven't lost ENOUGH or been working out long enough to tell if the compression stuff works WAY better than without, just for me so far I am less loose and saggy as I lose...I've lost this same weight before in the past. but I DO know compression really DOES help with soreness and during because I have wrapped and taped before and the difference is UNREAL amazing!Hi,

I didn't use to wear compression during exercises - but my personal trainer started to introduce me to it. For smaller exercises I didn't find major differences between wearing compression and not, but I felt the difference quite massively after a very strenuous exercise. I myself love to run, so for a run over 10km I usually wear my compression gear.
The major difference that I feel with compression wear is when you wear the recovery ones. It is fantastic after exercises - it reduces my soreness massively. I usually wear them the whole day and even during my night sleep and I'd wake up like new.
However, you gotta choose carefully which compression gear you wear, I find that lots of them are not worth spending the big bucks as they are no difference than regular tights or they fray or they loose compression after few washes. I used to wear 2XU, but they fray so easily - and it annoys me so much that their compression top always roll up to my bra everytime I wear them for a good run. I have switched to another brand just recently, and so far I've found them really good - my running mates recommended me to buy those. They don't have womens range as yet, but I bought the smaller size for mens ones and they turned out to be really good. My favourite one, the recovery leggings, I wore to work the other day after a tough sesh with my trainer lol. Their brand is called supacore. The garments are really comfortable, and they are also seamless. I've washed these 2 x a week and so far they're looking good (and I am not an extra careful person when it comes to laundry lol ).
I hope that helps!
Good luck with your search!
Ps: Their website is www.supacore.com0 -
