Cycling and/or Mountain Biking

Has anyone else discovered road cycling and mountain biking as an awesome form of exercise for keeping in shape?
I started mountain biking earlier this year and fell in love with it. That led me to road cycling and I love that even more now. I can easily burn 1000 calories in one 20 or 25 mile ride and my legs are rock hard now. It's the most enjoyable cardio I've ever done.

If I could, I'd ride my bike to work every day and sign up for more biking events (I've done a couple of sprint duathlons and do a yearly 100km charity ride).

I love cycling and do it when the weather is nicer... I am hoping to invest in a trainer and keep it up this winter I road bike (my favorite), mountain bike and downhill bike... love the sport :P0

I love to road bike and race duathlons.
Cross racing and MTB racing are the hardest things I've ever done! I'll be sticking to paved surfaces thank you.0 -

A little OT - if you get a trainer (which is a really good idea.....) make sure you get a training tire too, you'll destroy regular tires very quickly.0 -
I just bought a trainer 2 days ago. I bought the CycleOps Pro. I've only used it once so far but it feels pretty good.
I agree about getting a trainer tire. They will eat your tires up.0 -

I love mountain biking. It's an awesome way to get outside and enjoy the outdoors while getting a great workout0

Mountain biking hands down is my favorite style of cycling. I'm trying out Cyclocross this season and fortunately I have an advantage in the muddy races from my mtb experience, but overall it's not my favorite. I love being in the woods and playing on jumps, logs, drop-offs and just having fun.0

I love cycling since rediscovering it as an adult during a stint in Germany in the 1990s. I've gone from thinking that a 15-mile ride was long to doing a 111-mile ride in the Berkshire Hills yesterday. It's great for getting fit, though it's good to do some upper-body exercises too so you don't look like the cyclists in "The Triplets of Belleville."
I don't find it directly helps me with losing weight, because when I do a lot of cycling, I also want to eat a lot! In 2010, 2011, and 2012, I rode more than in previous years and either gained weight or remained stable. This year I've lost weight while cycling a lot, but only because I've been counting calories and consistently running a deficit.0
