Stalled/slow weight loss?

Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering if not hitting my macros or going over them can make me lose weight slower, even if im within my calories?
I have ALWAYS been over on sugar, but everything has sugar! I don't know how to fix that and still be able to eat healthier snacks that I like (yogurt, raisins, fruits, etc).
Also, Im slightly concerned that I'm not getting enough of my other nutrients, I eat a small variety of things, but generally tend to eat the same things all the time. Do you think that a multivitamin would help? Or would that be a waste?
I still have a lot of weight to lose and I don't want to stop now!!!
Thanks in advance :)

  • The macros on MFP aren't exactly fit to you. There is no online calculator that will give you your exact number. The general rule of thumb is:

Maintenance Calories(kcal) = Number of calories you need to eat to maintain your weight
Surplus in kcal = consuming over your maintenance thus you will store the excess energy in the form of fat or muscle
Deficit in kcal = you are eating below your maintenance, therefore your body needs more energy. It will retrieve that energy from fat or even muscle if you are in a severe deficit (which is bad)

A multivitamin won't hurt, but if you eat a lot of fruits/veggies it isn't needed.

    Example:

    Maint: 2000
    Surplus: 2500 (will gain weight)
    Deficit: 1500 (will lose weight)

You need to experiment with your body to find the perfect amount of calories that you need to eat to lose around 2lbs of fat a week (depending on your goals). Your activity level will factor into this so while trying to figure this out, keep your activity level constant and eat the same amount of calories every day for about a week. If you have maintained your weight at the end of the week, that is your maintenance calories. Bring it down about 300 cal and monitor your weight loss. If aren't losing 1-2lbs a week, then continue to lower it until you do. Cardio will obviously help so you can eat more and continue to lose weight. I like to use the general rule of thumb of avoiding a 1000kcal deficit for more than a day. Once a week 1000kcal deficit is fine, but i stay in around a 500-800 deficit when trying to lose body fat.

If you need any help just message me!!! I hope this helped!

Great question! I eat the same foods routinely, too, mostly due to budgetary reasons - that's what I can afford and buy, so that's what I eat.

I've been stalled recently, but I think it's because I tend to snack too much and end up over eating daily.

    Anyways, good luck to you!
