Is the sugar in frosted mini wheats, a good sugar? It has many of the same criteria for labeling fruit sugars "good", packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals.

2 g of fiber in 100 g of orange, or 11 g in 100 g of frosted mini wheats. Mini wheats wins! Plus there are 11 g more of that "good" sugar in the mini wheats. :drinker:

    There are no good sugars.
  • I have heard from my nutritionist that this is probably as good for you as oatmeal!
I love them too, and I would be lost without steel cut oats, but I'll tell you I love my wheats anytime,
morning ,noon, or night, and she also said it terrific to eat a couple times a week as you before bedtime snack!
Just use your head, and portion control! Enjoy!!!

Fiber + Yummy cancels out some of the sugars. I promise. It has enough fiber in it to balance things out. I eat cereal every day anyway, this week Frosted Mini Wheats are having their turn in the rotation. Sometimes it just means that I have to eat less rice or bread or potato later in the day. But I won't give up my Minis.

If it was that simple we could just mix Metamucil fiber with any sugary food to negate its effects. Maybe you can slow down the speed of absorption but you're also not getting that great quality of food. The majority of the vitamins in cereals are added vs coming naturally from their main ingredients.

Most data shows that fruits are associated with increased longevity and thinness. You probably won't see the same data for most cereals. Furthermore frosted miniwheats are pretty much disgusting unless you soak them in milk.
