Getting serious about getting my life back

Hello All,

I have been using My Fitness Pal for a while now but have been pretty stuck for a while. Since giving birth I have only been able to lose 15lbs and I need to lose at least 50-60 more. I am 5'7" and weigh about 215ish. It is going on two years since I gave birth and I still have been unable to shed this unwanted weight. Then my sister-in-law said something the other day about how she looks at eating healthy as in she is giving a gift to her body. She is a health nut but this really resonated with me for some reason and I am feeling very motivated to change my lifestyle for good not just a diet. Then my younger sister posted a picture of herself today and she is of course tall and thin and beautiful. Everyone posted how gorgeous she is and it just really made me want to get my life back. I am tired of being miserable with how I look and feel. I want to get my confidence back! Additionally since giving birth I have been diagnosed with a chronic hip condition which precludes me from being able to workout the way I used to. I have been trying to get into low impact cardio/dance stuff. I am hoping to find some support on here or others who are looking to lose 50-60lbs.

Thank you for reading my post!

Deanna

I started out with a starting goal of 50 lbs, I may adjust it when I hit that goal...I am about halfway there...feel free to add me! I'm one of those low and slow peeps, but I am on daily and would love to follow you on your way and encourage when I can. Good luck to you....sounds like you got some great motivation to start! Write it down and remember it! Maybe post what was said and how you felt along with the picture of your sister and when you get to a point where its hard you can remember why you started!

Thank you for the kind words. Congratulations on your weight loss so far!!! I can't wait to get there! That is a great idea to write down the stuff that is currently motivating. That is a great idea to help keep me going.

Congrats on taking the first step to getting fit! I'm a dude so I'll never know what it's like to have a child and lose the weight, but my wife has had to lose her baby weight twice after having our kids and she said while it was tough, it's not impossible, you just have to keep working at it and give yourself a realistic timeframe to work with.

I think diet is really key to losing weight but doing cardio will make you feel better, get your heart into better shape, and also burn additional calories which will only help you lose weight. If you can do any sort of weight lifting as well that would really help too. You might not be able to go hardcore with your hip condition, but you could certainly get a set of lighter dumbbells to do some basic exercises with at home. Lots of good used equipment for sale on Craigslist for cheap, that's how I got started at home.

Good luck to you and hopefully in the near future you'll be posting a great thread in the success story forum!
