I have a pilates machine reformer, rebounder. When I add pilates for my exercise if MFP it states I burned like 130 calories. This is a machine, I am not lying on the floor.

I then googled my rebounder asking about calories burned and could not find relative information. 30 minutes searching web... get a little frustrated. Please note, I did 20 minutes of strengh training from leg lifts, sits, crunches, using the cords with tension and my body weight laying down on machine. Then 20 minutes using the cardio rebounder and worked up a good sweat. Anyone who can direct me to a website or give me the formula so I can figure it out???? Thanks !

Check your heart rate during your workout and then google a heartrate calorie burn calculator. I found one on there, can't remember the name, and it gives you a pretty good idea. Hope that works for you. Other than that, strength training might be close to on the cardio list.

We have a Balanced Body reformer in the house that my wife uses almost daily. There's really not a formula to use outside of your heart rate. Do you know what your HR was throughout the exercise? Honestly, you'd really need to get an HRM to figure it out. I know that doesn't help much, but any estimation won't be very accurate.

Pilates on a reformer can be a simple stability/flexibility exercise that doesn't burn much or you could kill yourself on it... its just tough to say.

I wore my Body Bugg during a 60 minute pilates reformer class (level II)...I was surprised at how little I burned. I think it was like 275 or 300 calories. MFP lists it as an aerobic exercise. I think it's a great combo of aerobic exercise and strength training.

I know your post is 2 years old...just wondering if you found the answer you were looking for. MFP indicates 170 cal burned for 60 minutes of Pilates. I don't do a lot of cardio in my PIlates reformer class but it is hard (i.e. lots of abs, arm/back strength training, etc.). I've just been plugging in the 170 but am curious. Thanks!

Pilates is not really a big calorie burner. I don't have a HRM but I would go with what MFP says as the estimate - it won't be far off that.

Thanks! I've bumped it down from 170 to 150 because I just don't think I'm burning 170. Love love love Pilates but agree with you on it not being a calorie burner. And I love your ticker!!

    Hi,
I add an exercise to the MFP database calle "Pilates Reformer (Total Body)" I punched my info (weight and exercise duration) into these two website calculators and add all the results together then took the average as my calorie burn,

On this one I punched in my info and got results for all three intensities (eventhough I work really hard and break a sweat, and I have to be working pretty hard to sweat, since I have a slightly below average body temp of 97.0):

    AND

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info! I took the calories from both websites and then am logging the average ;)) I had found the Self calculated, but hadn't come across the UNM one - thanks so much!
