Carbs are not my friend!

I have been following a pretty strict calorie count for a couple of weeks and incorporating exercise, but i was steadily gaining weight. I could not figure out what was wrong since i was within my calorie goal. The problem was carbohydrates. I was eating too many. I remember Dr. Oz show on metabolism type. I totally believe this because I cut down a little on the carbs as I have done in the past and now I am losing weight again. Anyone else "allergic to carbs"

Most definitely, I have to really limit my intake for a few reasons, the more I eat the more I want so not a good concept for losing weight, that is for sure.0

If your new regime of cutting back on carbs is working for you then go with it..I don`t think you are allergic to carbs. It is just so much easier to underestimate the foods you are eating if they are processed or have a big carb content.
What worked for me and still works for me is staying in the MFP targets...protein is a little on the low side though...so add some more0 -
I'm diabetic, When I was diagnosed 10 years ago I was very heavy. The first thing I did was to of course, cut the carbs. Not eliminate the carbs, but I was only eating a fraction of what I was used to . I lost 70 pounds in 18 months. Keep up the good work and cut those carbs down.0

Can't handle the carbs either! I've lost a lot of weight in the last year by slowly cutting down on them. I totally get it!0 -
I don't really see the point in carbs. 200 calories for a cup of macaroni with nothing on it? No thanks. I'm contemplating a late night snack but still have half of my carbs remaining... and I had pasta for lunch! Maybe I'll add some when I finally get to exercising but I'm just staying away until then.
Oh, *now* I'm hungry for some Pasta Sides, lol.0 -
yes i lost 70 lbs in about 13 months and kept it off for a year. then started eating like i wanted, whatever i wanted and gained 30 lbs back. now i see the carb issue I have. I have to be very mindful of them. good or bad carbs. but especially the bad.0

Carbs are the devil! LOL I’m kidding of course. Each person’s body is different and in some, as myself, carbs do not bode well. I cut out bad carbs (I still eat fruit but stay away from breads, pasta and rice) since this past May and I’m down 55lbs. However, I also cut out fast food and greatly limited portion size and calories. I also incorporated cardio exercise 30 minutes, 4-5 times a week.
I have a VERY slow metabolism so I needed to turn the furnace back on to speed things up.0 -
I know it must be my carbs that limit me too, even when I stay at my calorie limit, as I am not having the success I would like. I asked my husband one day to review my food dairy. He took one look & said.....you're eating too many carbs....He has type 2 diab. & his doctor has him counting his carbs & in turn, his sugar levels are coming down & so is the weight.0

I'm "allergic" to carbs too! Makes me sad because I love them! I have to really watch my carb intake or I will not lose any weight. Right there with ya!0

I can' t do carbs in the morning, but I am fine with carbs from lunch on till bedtime.
(Seems to be not super uncommon with hypoglycemia, from what little I have researched )0 -
wow! yep:happy:0

This would make me sad lol! I gain when I cut carbs0

I have lowered my carb count (to about 100g healthy carbs) because I suspect I have PCOS. (I go to the dr next week to get some tests done) but I've been losing weight doing this in addition to counting calories. I actually feel amazing right now without all the processed foods and simple sugars.
Add me if you like, I am always looking for friends who post!!0 -
this is going to be good....in...for the "bad" carbs...
you realize that calorie deficit is what make you lose weight, and caloric excess is what makes you gain weight, right?
All you did by reducing carbs, was reduce your calories to a point that is now below maintenance.
Additionally, some of your lost weight is due to glycogen stores depleting themselves..once you eat carbs they will replenish and you will gain weight back...
this assumes no underlying medical condition...0 -
I don't know to much about Dr. Oz. I do eat according to my body type. I'm an endomorph so I have my protein & fats set at 30% and carbs. at 40%. I do carb cycling also every other day but only slightly0

I only eat carbs up until noontime and even then, only oatmeal and juice at bkfst, whole wheat sandwich at lunch. For me, they slow down my weight loss and make me feel boggy & slow.0

The other thing about carbs is that once they are digested and breakdown into sugars, it raises your insulin levels whether for transport into the cells or conversion to glycogen. Anytime your insulin level goes up, fat breakdown is suppressed which is what you want to happen for weight loss. Make sure you eat enough protein so muscle breakdown doesn't happen when you limit carbs but too much protein will also convert to sugar as well.0
