Hi there - so I fell off the wagon and gained about 35 lbs of a 65lb weight loss back. I'm hating looking at what I see in the mirror. Day 1 again... here we go.

At the end of February, I'm going to a friend of mine's bachelorette party in SOUTH BEACH MIAMI. If that's not terrifying enough, I'm going with girls (no bigger than a size 4) with great tans, beautiful long straight hair, and boob jobs. I really am struggling not to compare myself, but at the weight I am starting at... I need to get my butt in gear.

I need MOTIVATION and SUPPORT and ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS!

FITNESS LOVERS -
For any of you who are now avid fitness lovers with leaned, toned, muscles, I'd like to pick your brains. Are there any supplements or vitamins you took that helped you slim down and made your gym sessions go the extra mile? I do have a short time frame, so I want to maximize every work out that I can.

I have BSN Syntha-6 protein powder. I know there's more than that needed.
Also, what are your regiments? Shake to start day, before work out, after work out? Supplements after shake?

ANY TIPS?

Thank you for reading, and commenting, if you decide to.

This chubby chick could really use all the help she can get!!!!!!!! Also, feel free to add me or private message me if you want more extensive conversation than a reply comment.

As a trainer my #1 advice to people is to jack up protein to insane levels - no it will not hurt your kidneys and no it will not hurt your liver... keep fat and carbs on the low side (carbs <100g, fat <50g)

    1) protein has the highest TEF of all foods (thermic effect of food)

    2) protein provides greatest satiety - and in turn, dietary adherence

    3) in a calorie deficit, protein is used to produce glucose via de novo gluconeogenesis - so you won't hit ketosis

    4) eat on the order of 200g of protein daily

Absolutely no cheats. Keep calories at 11-12 x bodyweight - no less, no more.

First off, I'd say that you need a greater long term motivator than a party in Miami...it might provide you with all kinds of benefits if you extend a healthy lifestyle beyond the party....but it is a good goal to reach for.

I cannot give you complex scientific techniques about what to eat nor how much, but moving more and eating less is the simplified formula that has worked for me. I didn't take any supplements of any sort except protein shakes.

as to how MUCH you should eat..there are tons of decent threads on the forums that might guide you in the right direction.

    good luck!

You have plenty of time until february!!
I would do (I am doing it now, I'm on phase 3) Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. It's the best thing that has happened to my body and my mind. Only 30 minutes a day, but you'll probably want to add some cardio.
It gives you lots of energy and you'll feel great and powerful.

I completely agree with increasing your protein, but only if you are going to lift to build muscle. Always lift before you do your cardio. Log everything, and minimize cheat days.

I would increase protein regardless of exercise - strength training is preferred, obviously.

It doesn't matter when you do cardio during the day - just don't go crazy running for an hour.
  • I always do cardio before lifting. Why is it the other way around??

    I never knew that.

It isn't... it doesn't matter when you do it.
