Let me set the scene.
You've had a busy day of working out, and living life. Plus you've been eating what feels like the whole day, and you're perfectly satisfied ! Finding a wifi hotspot, you log your food and sync Runtastic etc into MFP. SURPRISE ! You're in the red net wise.
Would you brush it off ? "Hey, I was active the entire day. Nothing to worry about, seeing as how I'm done eating"
Or would you freak out ? "OMG I'M HUNDREDS IN THE RED ! I MUST BINGE ON THOUSANDS !"

Personally, as long as I am over 1200 (usually aim for 1300 to 1600 a day), I just let it be.
If I am under that, I will grab a tall glass of milk or something to get me to where I need to be.0 -
I usually plan ahead for my food and exercise. Saying that I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's just one day.0

What would be the logic in making it worse, especially if you just said you were satisfied (not hungry)? If I go over, I'm very careful about what I choose for the rest of the day/evening, to minimize the damage. If you were more active than usual, what's the problem? No need to freak out. **** happens.0

Nope... cause dare I say it??? In all of the searches I have done about calorie consumption says nothing about NET calories. It only recommneds that you don't CONSUME less than 1200 calories a day.0

the old me would say forget it and just go over anyway.. the new me, i'm trying to control it. i let it be, maybe add another walk in and just plan better for the next day!0

I'm not sure how he binging option comes into play... Anyway, you didn't say how far over you were for the day,but I'd say no worrles. As you know, you'd have to be 3500 calories over your maintenance to gain 1 pound of fat, so a few hundred is nothing. If you're really concerned, go for a long walk. Good Luck!

I would TOTALLY FREAK OUT! I'd probably cry.... :sad: Then I'd get mad... :explode: and then I'd EAT ALL THE FOOOOOOODS! :smooched:

One beer doesn't mean you have to drink a six pack.
Don't stress about it, it's nothing at all. If you're not on a plan for the day, at least identify the amount of calories in everything before you eat it. Doing this forces your brain to see the "value to cost factor" of different foods.0 -
Wait, do you mean you are in the red as in you are OVER in calories or as in you have NEGATIVE net calories?0

That's what I thought, but the replies seemed to be geared towards going over calories, so I thought I might have misread.
OP, if it happens every once in awhile, I don't worry about it. But if started being a pattern of a couple of times a week, I would examine my diet and start incorporating some more calorie dense foods, like nuts and cheese and eggs. I wouldn't freak out and binge though.0 -

I am a very big guy and I had that feeling of first days but once I saw what I could change it all became easy. First of all my exercise does not count, I just changed the intake, meaning eat less and selected, and specially do not over accumulate hunger.
I trick it with a piece of fruit and change one meal to a salad, and the other one to something light. I drink plenty of water and one day per week I eat normal without any diet (sure I do not eat a family pizza).
I do a lot of exercise as well but I only use it for the benefits of a faster BMR, specially in weight lifting. And for one week now I always stay on green, even today I ate indian food and I do not have the same appetite, so easy t stay on green.
