Interesting article, but is there any basis in fact for all the claims? I know it isn't good for you, as it is processed and empty calories, but it seems there are a varied number of claims that could be affected by numerous things, not just sugar levels.

It leads to obesity, that's pretty much the only one you need to list. Sugar has its place in the bodybuilding schematic, but mainly only after an intense workout, when your insulin levels are low.

I did not write this article. I'm just sharing information. The source is listed at the bottom of the article if you care to look at it.

I'm aware other things affect your healthy besides blood sugar levels. But you have to admit that people are eating much more sugar now than say a couple hundred years ago.

There's a lot of things that contribute to health problems, sugar is just one of them.

I know you didn't write it, and I did check out the source page before posting. However, there was no medical basis or studies quoted in the article, so I was just wondering/posting how much of the article was fear mongering and how much was based in fact and actual studies. I am sure that sugar has bad effects on our bodies in high doses. However, I like to see the proof in things before I believe it as fact, as there is so much stuff on the internet now that is false....look at all the emails that come through every day claiming false threats, products that will kill you etc.

Number 71 made me laugh my butt off...because I get headaches when I DON'T have sugar, not the other way around. My headaches are usually caused by me not eating when I should.

While sugar in excess is bad and leads to obesity, methinks this article is a scare tactic written by someone who supports fad diets in the line of Atkins.........IMHO.

I think this is an AWESOME list! Thanks for posting! I've cut sugar (natural and processed) back and am amazed at the difference in how I feel. My joint pain is almost GONE. Sugar is an inflammatory substance (hello, it burns!) and SO MUCH of our health problems can be directly linked to inflammation. Do I never eat sugar? No. I may occasionally have a bite of something with sugar (cookie, donut, piece of candy, etc) but I can tell you this- My body feels better than it has in YEARS. Yes, I've lost 60lbs and that probably helps but my pain GREATLY diminished within a month of changing my diet back in January 2010. Do yourself a favor If you have pain issues PLEASE try cutting back sugar.

    Thanks again for posting this!

You're welcome :) Its nice to know that someone appreciates it when others try to help.

Congrats on your weight loss so far and for cutting most sugar out of your diet. I also feel much better since I've started eating healthy. Sugar is just one of the things I've cut almost completely out and for good reasons.

Sugar is naturally found in fruits so cutting out fruits because it has sugar seems a little off to me. I think everything in moderation. I don't feel like you have to cut out everything just because it "may" be bad. Everyone went on this no carb diet but our bodies need carbs. Just have to watch what kind of carbs you eat.

I have been trying to watch my sugar intake. It is SO hard though because sugar is everywhere in almost every product. I am looking for more sugar free things, too. Even for my one year old. The apple juice has CRAZY amounts of sugar, but I found a brand that only had 6g!! Lowest sugar I've seen in apple juice. So I was happy to find that. There is difference between good and bad sugars too, people need to keep in mind.
