well I have recently gotten off the rightful path of diet and wanted to detox before getting back into it. I usually just drink a lot of water, but recently keep hearing people talking about detox supplements. Do they really work? what do they do? how did they help you?

no siree they sure don't my buddy and me watched a series of programs the truth about food BBC on you tube and one of the series of 6 was doing a detox with volunteers, I mean a real detox, and guess what the control group which ate regular meals showed to be no different than the detox group when the samples were compared. You see the detoxing organ in our body is a liver that is what it is there for and it works with the same results whether you did a detox diet or not.
So save your money and don't buy into the Bro Science , the great woo of the diets. Science doesn't support detox. Unless of coarse you are locked up and abstaining from alcohol , yuk yuk.:laugh:0 -

For them to work, you would need to have some kind of toxin for the "detox" to get rid of.

If by work, you mean do you lose weight on them, sure for a short time because they won't allow your body to hold onto anything you put in them. You gain the weight back as soon as you stop though. But there is no proven health benefit and a whole lot of negative side effects associated. They screw with your metabolism, cause nutrient deficiencies, and can throw your body's internal bacteria out of whack which messes with your immune system. These effects are also short term, but why would you do that to yourself for zero real benefit?0
