That's a hard topic. I'd like to say yes - but you're going to get a lot of people preaching macros. I don't pay attention to that.. it's basically calories in<calories out for me. It is super easy to let eating get away from you with fast food though.. at least I have a problem with it :(

I've never noticed fast food adversely affecting my efforts... sure it's not the ideal way to go, but if you pay attention to the calories, you can have fast food and still lose weight.

I still eat fast food if I'm in the mood for it, I just make sure to pay attention to what I get and plan the rest of my meals accordingly. It's not life ending if you eat out once in a while. Just don't get the greasiest thing on the menu and couple it with a large fry and large soda!

KFC does have grilled chicken. But in my opinion skip the buns... they are white "garbage" carbs.

Do yourself a favor and check the restaurant websites before going to them... most all have their nutritional guides online.

Better yet, stay home and fix healthy food. Give up going out to eat for 1 month, and just see how many pounds you can lose, you will be surprised.

  • I think if you check the calories and it fits into your daily goal, It's fine. I mean, it might take up a lot of your calories and you won't get to eat as much for the day, but if you really want it, go for it!

Also perhaps you could go for a salad? Skip the dressing though and take away the croutons. Wendy's has small salad bowls, whenever I'm put into a situation where I have to eat fast food (such as traveling), I just eat the tomatoes and lettuce mix w/o the dressing and etc , it's quite nice:) Maybe a small diet coke and you're good to go!
  • I think it really is all about calories in<calories out however like many have said it isn't ideal, and fast food is usually pretty heavy. So it makes you feel like crap later in the day. Don't deprive yourself though because that will just lead to binge eating. Have a big mac if you want, hell have a hamburger. Go light on the sauces no get fries or a drink and call it good:)

KFC has an alternative to fried...But if it fits in, your day then go for it. I know I don't always have time or energy to want to cook when I get home, so I will. Like the other day I stopped at Popeye's for chicken. Delicious and fit in my cals.

i did that once, but when i'm getting off work or far away from home i need to know what i can eat. but i read this "foods to eat" book that tells you what to avoid at fast food, or at the grocery store.

I don't think it's ideal but as long as you are making ok choices and not doing it everyday I think it's fine

when i do go i never get the big stuff. burger king has this new "new" cause its basically a whopper with onion rings, and i avoided it and got the chicken sandwhich. the crispy one i probably could of got the one without bread, but the picture on the menu looks good lol. binge eating is what i did, but i stopped thankfully.

I eat McDonald's every now and then. I skip the soda and the fries and just go for a burger. It's still 500 calories for a big mac, but that isn't more then I eat for a big dinner (and I will make this the biggest meal of the day).

I'm partial to Subway myself, eat there 2-3 times a week for lunch. When I'm drunk, pizza.
McDonald's just doesn't taste right to me. Some of my friends swear by 5 guys, meh...

In general I'm not a fan of burgers, except maybe White Castle sometimes.

Carl's Jr has a great turkey burger....but their $6 burger is better. :) I like to get it wrapped in lettuce so I can splurge on some sweet potato fries.

    MMMMMmmmmm.....sooo good.

I had McDonald's for breakfast once this week and Burger King for lunch once this week and I've lost more than 2 pounds since Monday. Fit it in to your calories, watch your sodium, and enjoy.

Anything in moderation. The problem with fast food isn't necessarily the calories, it's usually the fat, sodium, or sugar. Every once in a while won't hurt you, but making it regular part of your nutrition plan will just encourage your body to keep craving it.

    Not all calories are equal.

most anything u get from fast food is going to have 100's of ingredients. I saw an article yesterday listing ingredients in an egg mcmuffin. Just in the egg it was like 96 ingredients. I can't say that's healthy.

I eat fast food everyday, no choice as I am on the road the whole day. Dinner time is the only meal I can cook. Subway definitely is a good choice, but I learned that buffets have better choices. They are the only places where you have salads, chicken breast, fish, and lots of veggies. If you want to lose weight or have better choices of foods in "fast foods" go to a buffet.

No food is good or bad. However, the thing I don't like about fast food is that it usually does not last on my stomach. It's pretty much empty calories to me.

I opt for healthy fast food- Chipotle and Rubios have some healthier choices.
