high quality protein for a fussy clean eater?

So my other half is very fussy on what he eats, very clean etc and low sugar. He gets hungry a lot and could do with increasing his protein intake but we can't afford to buy meat all the time. I know a lot of shakes etc have high added sugar which he turns his nose up at and sweetners are an out and out no.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what he might be able to have? And don't tell me to tell him to stop being so damned fussy, it wont work!

You can get pretty cheap meat at discount stores like Aldi (who happens to be owned my parent company Trader Joe's) I mean, I get chicken breast there for $2.99 a lb or less.
A high quality protein powder is going to be just as expensive and they are meant to be used a supplements, not in replace of.
Maybe try tuna, tilapia... canned chicken in casserole, some of them ore in-expensive meats. Or re prioritize your grocery bill to ensure you can purchase meats.0 -
What about beans? does he like beans? or eggs? those are relatively cheap and you can buy them in bulk. I use sausage and pepperoni to boost my protein, but it's not exactly clean. What about going fishing for a hot date and freezing the fish you catch? I love to fish, but I can't catch a damn thing lol0

Cottage cheese, greek yogurt. The Friendship brand cottage cheese is my fave, and has 16g/serving. They have a whipped version that I use in place of ricotta or sour cream in dishes.0

I use two shakes together. I try and stay away from sugar (unless it's the sugar in fruit), and these two, together, have an entire day's supply of protein. The duo: The first one is Amazing Grass's Amazing Meal. The second is The Sun Warrior, which is a rice based protein. I use a 1/2 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of other fruit, and 1 tblsp. bee pollen (for the sweetener). This gives me well over my recommended protein allowance, for the entire day. >60 grams. Hope this is helpful.0

I can usually find chicken for a buck fifty a pound at my local Kroger. Cheese is usually pretty cheap too, around $0.22/oz. Fry up dat chicken in tasty coconut oil. Mmmf. Serve with buttered broccoli or steamed broccoli with shredded cheese. Aw yiss.0

Canned Tuna is cheap and has TONS of lean protein. Aldi is also cheap for ground turkey and things like that.0

that being said - I agree with the others here: greek yogurt, cottage cheese, fish of all kinds including canned, eggs... all great options.0 -

Have you tried fit train frappes? It works for me and helps me curb my hunger pangs plus it has good protein content.0
