    Hi, welcome!

I can tell you exactly where you're going wrong, because losing weight involves only one thing: you have to consume fewer calories than you burn. It's really as simple as that. So, if you've been trying but getting nowhere, it's because you're eating too many calories.

What you need to do is figure out how many calories you need each day (there are formulas online that will calculate that for you), then eat about 20% fewer than that each day. If you do that, you WILL lose weight. I guarantee it.

This is where myfitnesspal can really help. I use the iPhone app (I think there's one for Android and BlackBerry, too), and it makes it super easy to know exactly how many calories you consume in a day.

Again, welcome! This is a great community, and I'm glad you're here.

Yes, it IS simple (and hard at the same time). This is an excellent post to read if you are just starting out. It will help you set your calorie and macro goals and is an overview of what is important: (and what isn't  )

Yes, that's exactly right. It's not always easy, but it is simple.

Here's a link to an article that really clarified things for me. I hope you like it, too:

The sad truth is that people sign up, post for help and friendship, accept friends and then NOTHING.
    Profiles remain blank.
    No communication.
    No exercise.
    Closed diary.
If the diary is open nothing gets logged.
Sometimes even private messages are totally ignored.

You do what you can but ultimately concentrate on yourself.
Try to be an inspiration to others.
The other person has to be ready to change.
