Is T25 the wrong program for me?

My wife is going to start T25 to lose her baby weight. It would really help her if I exercised with her so that she had a buddy to go through it with.

I am 29 years old, 6'2" and weigh 155 on a good day. I haven't changed weight in probably 10 years despite long, long stretches of eating like crap and short periods of healthy eating and exercise.

I'm wondering if T25 is the wrong program for me. I would hate to lose any weight, and I'm worried that in order to maintain my weight I would need to start eating insane amounts of food. Would it be better for me to choose a program that is geared more toward muscle gain?

  • If you never trained before, it wont do you any harm, it will make you gain some light muscle mass and burn some fat at the same time. Sure you wont gain huge muscle mass with T25 as this is not a program with muscle hypertrophy exercices but it wont make you skinny.

To gain some muscle mass, just don't run a calorie deficit. Cut out junk food and eat enough so that your body can build muscle.

It's 25 mins of cardio, including a warm up and cool down. It won't kill you to do it with your wife a few days a week. And once you guys get into the habit of working out perhaps you can introduce her to actual strength training as that will go a long way to helping her get her pre baby body back.

Start learning about strength training now so that you'll know exactly what to do once you guys get bored of doing the same dvds over and over again

The program doesn't burn very many calories, you wouldn't need to change your diet at all. Grab an extra Snickers bar once or twice a week, and you're done.

Try it and find out. If you don't like the results, stop doing it. If you like it, keep doing it.
