Hi all,
So I am just stating to get back into MFP...I need help and any success stories, motivation. I have about 15lbs that I want gone by January, I know its going to be hard with the holidays coming up. But I am very determined to get over this little hump. I started off at 142, and so far am down to 133-130(on good days). I am 5'2" ideally I would like to get down to 115 but i know muscle adds on weight which is fine. I am starting everything today, new week new me...I have a gym plan...walking/jogging for 30 minutes then circuit training for 25 minutes. I guess my REAL main goal is to get a flatter stomach by January so I can rock my bikini(going to St.Thomas for a wedding) any one have any suggestions for food/exercises and all that. I will be doing a boot camp once a week as well. Is this at all possible to lose 15-20lbs by the beginning of Jan?
Sorry for the ramble. thanks everyone!! OH an i could use some friends on here for the motivation so please add me or send me a msg

A realistic goal is 1.5-2Lb a week. Good luck!0

Hi, to drop some fat, I do an additional 30 minutes of cardio 1st thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It seems to do the trick. My water weight fluctuates around 10lbs during the day, so I don't use the scale to gauge fat loss. If I notice a little pudge, I'll do the extra 30 minutes. Hope it helps0

Sounds like you have a good plan, only thing i would add is to make sure you take in enough protein and healthy fats. Fat is not the enemy when its healthy fats from say salmon or nuts. Good luck! Feel free to add me to help along the way0

Wow! You are really making the commitment to exercise that I only dream of doing. Of course I am a lazy 51 year old who hates to move around so I have to watch what I eat. I would like to suggest you looking into the "New Atkins" approach. It is very simple and my daughter and I both have enjoyed the changes. The basics are really all you need because you are able to track on MFP your other important statistics. My daughter unfortunately has inherited her genes from the larger part of the family and she stopped smoking plus had baby fat to lose. She has done well but she always felt she was on a diet and wanted to try something new with her busy life of mom and work. So we decided to try this diet before we start a new commitment to exercise (a lifetime must). She started 2 weeks ago. She has lost 14 lbs. after being on a very stubborn plateau and has me excited to get it rolling. She needs to lose 50 and I need to lose 20 and I am 23 years older so it will be interesting to see how it will go. I will slowly add my exercise next week after I have my first cheat night but wish I had your drive. That will make you successful and you may find this plan may help you get there in time. My old lady advice is don't get caught up in the number on the scale, pay attention to how the clothes you want to wear and the size you want look on you. If you like clothes that are a size 5 (any smaller and the cute stuff just isn't there for some age groups) and they look good on you, then you have made your goal! Muscle will weigh more and that is why the number on the scale should be open until you find the right look. When you find that look, then you look at the number on the scale and try to stay in that area. I would rather weigh 120 and look healthy, firm, and feel well then to be 115 and look like a skeleton. Good for Halloween but not much for the rest of the year. :-)
What ever you decide I wish you the best and I know you will make it!
How simple?
Rule 1 - Know the formula Total Carbs - Fiber = Net Carbs.
Rule 2 - Don't go over 30 net carbs per day
Rule 3 - Don't eliminate all the fat from your diet
Rule 4 - Follow the diet for 5 days, on the fifth day after your Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are done, you get to cheat until midnight!! You can have whatever you want or have been craving during the week you felt deprived of. Get it out of your system. Then start back up the next morning. I like this because cheat night is always on a different night.
There are lots of good recipes on line that the whole family will love and not even know they are getting healthy too.
When you follow this and use MFP to figure out totals for servings it makes it even easy on the go. I travel for my job and I love how handy this is to help me make good decisions on the go.0 -

Feel free to add me as a friend. We sound similar in stature. I'm 5'3" - started at 142lb, now 134lb, aiming to get to 124lb.
I'm also a member of a group (just started) - we are aiming to take off 10-15lb by Xmas. Weigh-ins are Tuesdays (for accountability). Feel free to join. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/17099-lose-15lbs-by-christmas-challenge0 -
