Weight loss has come to a halt

I've been maintaining a 1600/2000 calorie diet now for the past 4 months. In the first 3 months I lost 15 pounds at a consistent pace. But since the first of Sept. I've only managed to lose three pounds most of which happened early in September. What has happened to my to slow my progress this much?

We're going to need a lot more information than that to help you.

Have you re-entered your weight loss goals in MFP?

It recalculates your calories every 10 pounds if you log the loss at a crack. But you need to readjust more often than that for it to give you the correct calorie estimation. Every time I stalled, I would re-enter my data, MFP would drop my calories a little, and I'd lose again.

Also - check consistent logging and measuring. It's easy to get sloppy.

First question: are you maintaining a 1600 calorie diet, or a 2000 calorie diet?

As you lose weight, our BMR decreases, requiring fewer calories to maintain your body. As such, you need to continue to proportionately reduce calories as you lose weight.

It also depends on how you consume your calories through out the day. It is more effective to have 5 meals a day that include 3 major meals and 2 snack meals, where you limit your carbs to 60 gms per meal and 20 gms per snack meal. This keeps your metabolism more active while controlling blood glucose and hunger.

    Good luck!
