Calorie confusion tdee vs mfp

Irl keep it simple.. Mfp says to loose 1lb a week, eat 1440cals.. I burn varied amounts of exercise varying between 200-400cals depending on if I'm doing cardio, weights or 30ds. I do this 3 times a week.. So 3 times a week irl eat 1700ish cals (net 1400ish)

20% of my tdee gives me 1720... everyday!! So isn't this giving me too many calories?!

Sorry if I'm being thick, no horrid messages please, just a girl confused xx

    Ok ....you're asking about eating 1700 or 1440 on non-workout days.......... I'm not sure.

    MFP gives you 1440 (net) based upon "I want to lose XX" pounds per week"....perhaps the number you put in for TDEE (less a percent) is fewer pounds per week than you set for MFP....these numbers should be pretty similar.
  • Exactly I don't eat this everyday just on workout days... 20% of tdee lets me eat this everyday..

    MFP is NET calories, eaten calories minus exercise calories should be 1440 in your case.

    how long doing this? how much lost?

    It's pretty much the same, TDEE lets you eat a little bit more or a little bit less depending on your weight, but it should be close.
  • I think im confusing you all with what I'm trying to get at.. Tdee lets me eat 1710cals EVERYDAY!

    Mfp lets me eat 1440cals a day with 300ish exercise cals only 3 TIMES a week!! That's only 3 times a week I can eat 1740cals!!

    Tdee I eat 1710 cals 7 times a week and still only workout 3 times a week

    You're probably over estimating your TDEE which is common and one reason I don't like that method. Strength training isn't a calorie burner so take that out of your equation to start with.

    Okay so, the TDEE calculator gave you a TDEE of 2137.

    So for a full week that would be: 14959
    If you eat 1710 everyday : 11970
    Deficit for the week: 2989
    Roughly : 0.8lb loss per week

    ~~~~~~~~~
    So the difference looks to be losing roughly 1lb per week or losing 0.8lbs per week.
  • Thank you :) guess it sounds silly like that :)
