Belly fat and high protein diet (opinions pls)

Hello,

I have a big belly fat, i'm eating more clean then ever, i'm doing exercise 60min/day (did start recently) . At moment 89 Kg/196.2 pounds and my Goal: 58 Kg/127.9 pounds . Around my belly at moment 125cm/49.21 inches. I had 1,55m/5'1ft.

I read some articules and opinions here (cases) and i would like to know if a high protein diet (like dukan diet) is good to started with in people like me with a very big belly.

I would like to read some opinions about what you all think, and any other help and tips that can help me.

Thank you.

From the very little I've heard of Dukan, it sounded a bit unnecessarily complicated in the food menus and macro games. More broadly, you can't spot reduce fat. Belly fat will go when the body grabs fat from the belly, which will be whenever it feels like it, which on average will be a good deal after you wish it would. Not anything you can actually do about that.

Define high protein. I currently keep mine at about 35% or so of daily calories (works out to about .67g/lb at last calc), mainly to limit muscle decay. Decent level of protein (about 20% of daily calories) is good or that and because it's a rather important macro for tissue repair. moderate or high is a matter for individual discretion. Calorie deficit is the key point for fat loss.

I am a true believer that no "diet" is good for us. Why not just eat healthy, log all your food and exercise, eat at a calorie deficit, and continue your exercise? You didn't gain weight, or even belly fat overnight, so it's going to take awhile to reach your goals. Be patient, tolerant, and kind with yourself.

First off, good for you for wanting to make a make. Not everyone has that will power.

Second: This should be a lifestyle change. You're going to have the most success if you don't consider this a diet but an over all change to better your life. Eat less but don't deprive yourself of the things you love.

Third: Unfortunately you cannot spot reduce. As you lose weight your belly will naturally shrink but there's nothing you can do to ONLY target your belly.

    Good luck!

Hi! Protein is important in all our diets. I do not know anything about Dukan but would encourage you to simply count calories and important macronutrients (carbs, fat, protein), and continue exercising. Plans like that tend to overcomplicate the whole process of losing weight/getting healthy. There is nothing wrong with high protein. The most common breakdown of nutrients you will see is 40/30/30 (meaning 40% carbs/ 30% protein/ 30% fat) This is usually a good level for most people. I have done EXTREMELY high protein at times, and for me personally it makes me constipated so I keep my intake at 30-35% for protein. Eating clean is a wonderful thing and it works for me. Remember not to be too strict with yourself though! By restricting all treats ALWAYS, 99.9% of the time leads to binging/falling back into old habits easier. Because of the goals I have right now, I treat myself once per week to a "cheat" meal (I hate calling them that because moderation is key and I don't see having an occasional treat as a bad thing) and do my best to eat in an 80/20 split- eat clean 80% of the time, everything else in moderation! Good luck to you. You seem like you have the motivation and desire to keep improving your health and quality of life and that will take you far. Don't get discouraged when the weight loss slows. The scale is not the only measure of success! The only way to reach your goals is CONSISTENCY with eating and exercise. Don't push yourself too hard, to a point where you would hurt yourself, but ensure to be challenging your body with your workouts! You will receive a lot of advice from these forums, but please make sure to IGNORE THE NASTY PEOPLE. Have a wonderful day!
