Lost weight, health now going downhill?

Hello! I dropped 10 pounds within the last 6 weeks and have now experienced for the past 2 weeks major fatigue, ridges on my fingernails, insomnia, lack of appetite, my hair falling out, nightmares, sore throat, dizziness, and general mind fog. I have also gotten more irritable and obsessive. I have also had heavy spotting/my period for the past 4 weeks despite being on the birth control pill and taking it every day.
Someone please tell me that this isn't normal!

I would go to your doctor, that sounds like a thyroid issue.

What are the symptoms of hyperthyroidism?
You may have no symptoms at all. Or:
You may feel nervous, moody, weak, or tired.
Your hands may shake, your heart may beat fast, or you may have problems breathing.
You may be hot and sweaty or have warm, red, itchy skin.
You may have more bowel movements than usual.
You may have fine, soft hair that is falling out.
You may lose weight even though you eat the same or more than usual.
Or even anemia....
Symptoms common to many types of anemia include the following:
Easy fatigue and loss of energy
Unusually rapid heart beat, particularly with exercise
Shortness of breath and headache, particularly with exercise
Difficulty concentrating
Dizziness
Pale skin
Leg cramps
Insomnia0 -
You didn't give us any detail on how you lost the weight. But in any case, see a doctor.0

You probably should see a doctor. Those things are not "normal" when losing weight. May be a vitamin deficiency or you may be restricting calories too much. It's hard to know without more information. Best of luck to you!0

Those are all signs of malnourishment. How many calories are you eating? And considering you had very little weight to lose and you lose weight quickly, that is what I am thinking.0

Sounds like someone is trying to lose weight they shouldn't. Go to your Dr.0

Ding ding ding!!!!! We have a winner - OP, if it is you on your profile pic, losing 10lbs in 6 weeks is nuts and too much too fast....0 -
It's not normal, but we can't really suggest a specific cause without more information.
Always aim for health above all else. If you're super healthy, you'll be at a healthy weight too. If you start with the weight and just try to get to an arbitrary number, health doesn't automatically come with that. You're not necessarily healthier just because you're lighter. I hope you find an eating and moving lifestyle that brings you excellent health in all areas!0
