The good news is running is a rubber suit will help you sweat more and thus drop weight!

The bad news is it will all come back as soon as you drink water...

This is ONLY of value if you are trying to drop pounds to make weight for an MMA fight or wrestling match.

Oh wait, you could strap to your back and use it like a parachute to created extra resistance while running!

Really? Well, the hilarity that will ensue is one benefit. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

Do you mean using it like a parachute? It's tougher to run because you're running against resistance...They combine resistance training and interval training in a single workout and runners/athletes use it to gain explosiveness. Not sure how that helps with getting rid of a tummy...

If that is actually you in your picture, you look amazing. Why would you be trying to something so extreme - not a healthy approach - wearing a garbage bag while you run, not good.

When I was a little kid there was a woman in our town that always wore a black garbage bag even in 100 degree weather. There were so many stories about her that kids were afraid of her. So I guess you could make small children run screaming.

If she's wearing a garbage bag around her torso, nobody will see her tummy.
If she's wearing it as a parachute, nobody will notice her tummy.

So yeah, I can see how a garbage bag would work.

Is your friend some sort of boxer, wrestler, or martial arts fighter that needs to cut weight before a fight?

If the answer is yes, then ok.

If the answer is no, then it is pretty pointless and possibly dangerous.

If you are being chased, you can jump in a dumpster. Your attacker will not be able to distinguish you from your surroundings. Running in a garbage bag could save your life.

Best benefit is that she could pick up trash along the side of the road increasing calorie burn a bit. Now if she can pick up enough trash, toting that bag around full of extra weight will definitely burn more calories.

Depending where you run, you might fill it up quickly and it will then get heavy =) It would be a nice move for the environment ;p

Fill it with aluminum cans and you can get about $5 a bag at the recycling center.

In all seriousness, what people are trying to say is that the stigma associated with this type of behavior is "crazy." If you have ever seen "The Silver Linings Playbook," I am sure you will remember how Bradley Cooper was a recently released mental patient who ran around in a trash bag. That is clearly overkill and unnecessary for weight loss.

I've seen someone wear one under their shirt once....

Id imagine the idea is you get better conditioning since the sweat doesnt draw away heat from your booty [through evaporation] when its contained... Then when you run without one it'll seem much easier. Im not sure aout this, but, it's somewhat logical. I don't think it does anything to aid in spot reduction. I doubt it will do anything for fatloss. Containment of sweat and heat could very likely lead to a stroke, heart attack, black out, etc.
