Im obsessed? :(

Options
I have gotten to the point in my weight loss journey where it is easy for me. I am now completely used to weighing everything and I know the calorie count of everything that goes in my mouth. I also exercise 6 days a week (occasionally 7 if Ive had a bad food day). I have lost weight consistently to the point where everyone has noticed that I am looking great. Some people have already started to say that I shouldnt lose any more weight but Im still overweight!! But the most annoying this is 3 people today alone have told me I am obsessed because it takes over my life.

It hasnt took over my life!! I still look after my son, I spend time with my husband, I visit my family and I go out with friends. If anything, my fitness has given me energy to do all that AND exercise. Why are people trying to make me feel bad about myself when I am trying to be the best person I can be??

THis wasnt a question, it has just really annoyed me today and I needed to vent!! Sorry!

I think its a great thing.

Calorie counting, dieting, and weight loss takes ALOT of hard work, time, and dedication! Which is maybe why most people dont stick to it.

I think its awesome that you are still so dedicated to it.

Shake off the bad comments. If your family (immediately in your house) don't have a problem. And if people say you are obsessed, comment "well at least I'm obsessed with being more healthy" It's not like you are gambling or on porn sites all day.

And when they say "you need to stop losing weight", I reply "i am talking to my doctors about this. I will take their advise on when to stop".

I'm at least 20 lbs from needing to stop.

    Keep it up.

I'd much rather be "obsessed" with getting fit & healthy than some of the other obsessions I've had in my life... I think it's a good obsession as long as it's not hurting u or the ppl u care for... Congratz on ur success!

I completely object to people saying that watching what you eat makes you obsessed. It *may* be true for some people, but for me the lack of thinking about food is what made me fat. How can you be obsessed with one of the three things you need to live. If you aren't thinking about the quality, and quantity of the food water and air you consume than what the hell are you thinking about?

Jen... I love you. But it's "taken" not "took" :P And I'm proud of you. Some people just can't separate dedication and obsession in their mind. They are jealous because you have taken control of your life. Screw em x

I have yet to be accused of that; but it sounds like more of their own problem than yours. You are an example of things they too should be doing in some capacity and being reminded of that may bother them. Pop-psychology at it's worst; but just a thought. Keep up the good work. :)

I've had to make a conscious effort not to talk about exercise and food calorie content so much. I don't feel obsessed, but I've come to the realization that it is on my mind a lot and I probably talk about it too much, even to friends who are losing weight along with me. If you're not babbling about it nonstop and people are still calling you obsessive, then they're the ones with the problem--and its name is Jealousy! :)

Next time someone tries to call you "obsessed" tell them not to confuse obsessed with discipline. There's a big difference. ;-)

(that ought to shut them up for a bit)

Kudos on your journey and the results you have gotten so far! If it makes you feel good keep going regardless of other's opinions.

Do what works and continue being healthy.

    Cheers!

"Obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated."

I think this reigns true a lot. At some point most of us have been told we're obsessed. Those who don't try to live a healthy lifestyle simply can't understand that it takes actual work. I think the biggest thing is that when we see someone doing something good for themselves, we are forced to look at ourselves in a bad light and that makes us defensive... and subsequently, offensive.

It is a good obsession. I have found that a healthy lifestyle has given me back my life. I can do so much more and am not tired all the time.

You are not obsessed. The people who said that are probably jealous and want you to stay in a weight range that makes them feel more comfortable about themselves. It's truly shocking how many people get negative feedback from friends and family when they start losing weight. Stay strong. Use the nay sayers as motivation.
