Best kind of workout for a bigger girl new to daily gym.

Was just wondering what kind of workouts will work out best for me trying to lose weight
I'm going to be visiting the gym 5-6 days a week with my husband

If you're not active, start small and work your way up. Walk on the treadmill or bike at a comfortable speed. Increase speed and resistance as you get used it. Start with light weights. Ask your husband or one of the trainers to show you how so you don't hurt yourself. You could try signing up for classes too but just remember, don't feel pressured to keep up with the people that have been going for years, start at your own speed, listen to your body and you'll get there.0

When I first started I basically just did the elliptical(because I don't like walking on the treadmill and definitely couldn't jog on it lol) and found a few legs machines and a few arms/shoulder machines to use and alternated days with them. I'm with a trainer now who gives me a Day 1 and Day 2 workout plan for a month at a time and that has been awesome.0

I definitely say try to mix it up. I'm not sure what you all have available but I love the elliptical. It took me a while to build up to a 40 minute workout but you can do it. Also that gets too boring some days. I swim laps, take a zumba class, I've done bodypump. Try weight machines on low weights and alternate upper body/lower body and keep building up, etc. If you don't like a machine, don't do it. Also you can walk/run outside if your husband's in the gym. Might give you a different environment? I guess just don't restrict yourself to inside the gym if you don't have to. But I say jump 2 feet in and really see what you like, then build up some workouts that you enjoy. After all this is a life style change, better make it enjoyable if you plan to stick with it.0

Anything, go at a pace that is comfortable for you! Push yourself but not too hard. If all you can do is 10 mins on an elliptical - that is still awesome. Even if it is a small step, it is still a step in the right direction.0

Tuesday - arms, delts and abs
Wednesday - elliptical

Bike and possibly elliptical. Avoid treadmill unless u are doing walking or incline walking. Running can give you hairline fractures kf your bone density is not high enough yet (it will increase over time with exercise). Even for really lightweight runners they are sti prone to knee and hip issues. Seriously, there are smarter options.
Assisted weight machines. Avoid freeweights until your core can support your back. Start small until you have perfected the technique and posture.
Be careful of your joints and back as they need to adapt.

Yoga! You have to feel how great you feel after a yoga class. Go more than once to get the full effect, of course. And don't strain too much; yoga is meant to have folks at different places in the poses. If you do it to a comfortably challenging level for yourself, it feels soooo good after.0

going to the gym isn't the only thing to be concerned about. If you want to, though, follow stronglifts/new rules of lifting for women/starting strength.
...but losing weight is gonna come from the kitchen. If you're not at a proper caloric deficit, it won't matter what you do in the gym.0 -
find a couple of things you enjoy doing...and do them! Lots of people seem to enjoy Zumba, that would certainly be a good option. Or swimming, or biking, or anything that gets your heart rate up a bit. Add some strength training, and you're set. I agree that weight loss happens in the kitchen not the gym...but the gym can make the difference in how good you look!0

Take these awesome suggestions but once you are more comfortable in the gym setting try to find something that you love doing that way working out isn't such a hassle but something you want to go do. I started with the elliptical and weights but I now I do Zumba several times a week and weights. Once I fell in love with Zumba it made wanting to go to the gym easier ! Good luck to you!0
