You're probably better conditioned and just because you werent lifting doesnt mean you didnt gain strength.... at a novice stage you make a lot of progress.. if thats you, thats my answer.... you may want to increase the weights if you have a lot more to offer than what your lifting demands....
perhaps do a "test day" and re access your 1RMs (pick something around ~75% of your estimated 1rm and see how many u can do... enter in a 1RM calculator and get your numbers)... then use those figures to do whatever program you choose0
