I just found the forum for MFP as my determination was starting to crack. I figured I would add my story as reading others helped with my determination.

So where to begin... I am about to turn 29 here in a few months and have my first kid on the way scheduled for May 1st. At work i kept getting called "Big Guy" and not in a bad way but with some of the older people i worked with. Finally one day this started to wear on me as I did not see my self as that big. One day I decided to get a scale since i was not sure where i was in the way of weight. So this started about two years ago and when stepping onto the scale and saw 252. Needless to say I was like Holy S**t, then realized I needed to do something. So i went back and forth making the same mistakes that I am sure most of us have and did not make much forward progress. Well I decided I needed some motivation or a prize at the end. My original goal was 215 lbs, so after dropping to 230 lbs I signed up for the MSF class to get my motorcycle license. Then when I got to 215 I finally bought one that my wife and I could enjoy riding. After sitting around 215 for a long while one of my buddies from work convinced me to try doing a track day. i decided that it would prob be better if i was a bit lighter and worked my way down to 200 so used the track day as a present for getting to 200. Only problem when I hit 200 I was still fat for 5'11". I had gone from XL shirts and size 44 pants down to large shirts and 36 pants. My goal then was 185, but now being at 183 current and still 'fat' i am going for 175 as technically i should be between 165 and 179.9

I was planning on going racing but with the kid on the way... I will still continue to go to track days and my current motivation is that I put springs in the forks for 170 to 180 lbs rider.
