Just wanted to share today's victory. I see a lot of threads about running, many of which express frustration at getting started or building speed. Neither of those are easy things to accomplish. In the last 18 months I have faced numerous challenges in getting started, overcoming injury and trying to improve.
When I started my journey a year and a half ago I was smoking a pack of cigarettes per day and weighed close to 270 lbs. I've run a number of races including 5k, 10k, 10 mile, half marathon, and a couple triathlons.
Today's race was a 5k and one of my favorites so far. I finished in 21:17 which was good for 6th overall and 3rd in my age group. My daughter ran today too and finished first in her age and the 8th woman overall.
I just want you to know that you can do it too. It's not easy and some days it seems impossible. But you can't give up and have to stay committed. Keep working, find a good training plan, set goals, evaluate your goals occasionally, join a running or triathlon club. Just keep running.

Your very welcome. If you want to get faster just keep working at it and be patient. Make sure you push yourself in your training and enter some races to get more experience.
When I started running 12:00 miles were all I had in me. After several months I could barely do 10:00 and felt like I'd puke. Yesterday's pace was a new best and I think I might be able to better it by a little. But it will take extreme dedication to my diet and workouts.0 -
Congrats, on both your awesome finishes, I am still struggling with running again so it was nice to hear this. A good reminder and motivator0

Awesome!! And encouraging! I've just started the C25k this week. I'm not a fan of running so hope it catches on, ha!!
