Hello,
I'm wanting to loose weight by eating and drinking water, but i seem to eat wrong food. Does anybody know what to avoid eating and what is important to eat for breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner?
Also what to watch out for in ingredients? My metabolism is slow, so any tips for fasting it up?

I find avoiding carbs in an evening helps. but don't cut out altogether. I tend to have a slice of toast for breakfast and a yougurt. Lunch is some crackers and pate, or a sandwich. Evening meal is lean meat or fish with lots of vegetables. On a work out day (swimming for me), I tend to have an omlette and salad or chunky soup and bread to help fill me up after. Snacks, I have 100cal or less crisps (chips if you are in the USA!), and 100cal or less biscuit/choc type treat bars.

I think it's important to vary your diet so you don;t get bored. Make sure you include plenty of protein and veg plus a limited amount of carbs and treats.......this is not a fad diet, this is a life time eating style which you need to feel able to maintain.

I loss 62 pounds (gained 10 of those in the last few months because I stopped logging) by cutting down on sugar, soda, juice, pastries.....

I substituted regular milk for unsweetened almond milk and fat free milk. For breakfast I usually have half a cup to oats with 1tbsp of peanut butter powder. Sometimes I blend berries with flaxseeds and chia seeds for a quick breakfast on the go. I drink a lot of decaf and unsweetened tea. I walk 40-60 mins 5 times a week.

I portioned snacks such as almonds and cereal to snack on while at work. I try to measure what I eat most of the time. My metabolism is very very very slow. I have hypothyroidism and that hasn't stop me from losing. Now I'm trying to get back into logging and loosing another 50 pounds.

Well done! Agree, some small changes can really help. I went from semi skimmed, to skimmed milk and cut out sugar, on sweetners now if and I mean if I have a coffee or tea. Hot water with a slice of lemon and half a teaspoon of honey is now my drink of choice!

Put all your info into MFP, get a calorie budget, start logging all your food, stay within the budget and you'll lose weight. There are no foods that make you lose weight or make you fat. You can eat whatever you want as long as you stay in your calorie budget.

There is no "wrong" food or "right food. There is food that is more nutrient dense and food that is less calorie dense. Those make the best choices for maximizing nutrition and minimizing hunger. I make sure to load up on fresh fruit, veggie, lean meat, low fat dairy, and whole grain, but I make sure to save calories for items that mean my emotional needs: chocolate, wine, etc.

Some of us have eliminated some foods, for me those are foods that I can't consume in a controlled way so it's easier for me to just not eat them at all. For me that is chips and all fast food. There is nothing inherently "wrong" about eating controlled quantities of those items, but I personally can't do it.

Every person needs to experiment with a plan to suit individual physical and emotional needs. Pay attention to foods that satisfy your hunger and those that make you hungrier than you were to start with. Eat a wide variety of foods to make sure and cover all the nutritional bases. Never eat food you don't like just because you think you should.

Thank you everyone, I don't eat much of pastry or sweets. I was just wondering what others were eating, and gathering some information, since i don't seem to loose fat. I do workout, but sometimes i get lazy and stop for a week or so. Seems like I need to eat more veg and fruit. I have a stupid habit of not eating for a day, or eat only once a day when ever I'm at home doing nothing. I guess I need to do logging everyday to keep me going.

My day typically goes like this:

    Breakfast:
2 cup whole grain cereal with strawberries
    3/4 cup skim milk

    or

    2 eggs
    1 slice whole wheat toast
    1 tablespoon peanut butter

    Lunch:
    string cheese
    apple
    2 slice whole wheat toast
    1 cheese slice
    Turkey lunch meat
    1 tablespoon mustard

    Snack:
Peanut butter granola bar (because it tastes more like a payday candy bar :)

    Dinner:
    some type of salad usually
&&& then whatever else we feel like eating or cooking because by then i have enough calories left over to eat whatever i want especially after my workouts.

By the way, my lunches do change up on occasion, sometimes i will eat a frozen meal or tuna salad instead
