I started feeling better about it when others noticed that I was losing.
Specially the mother in law. Since she doesn't see me often, when I finally went to see her she noticed that I've lost weight.
Sadly, she's started putting on weight, so I might have to teach her to eat right pretty soon, but I don't feel I'm yet ready as I'm still far from my goal.0 -
I started feeling good about my weight loss when I started a new job without insane coworkers. LOL
I say this because in April, after losing about 20 lb on MFP, I took a job in a law firm where all of my coworkers were obsessively dieting and doing really weird (in my opinion) fad pills, shakes, etc. I was so insecure about my body, my diet, everything, being around that for 8+ hours every single day. They were going to personal trainers every night after work (even the women who weighed 50+ lb more than I did). They would freak out if someone ate a half bagel. I felt like I was kidding myself that I was doing well by eating regular foods in moderation and not participating in all of the trends they talked about constantly.
I found another job (for other reasons) and truly, it's made all of the difference in the world. Not only have I lost nearly 30 more lb on MFP but I feel positive and less obsessed. The people I work with now are mostly male, and one female who is 50 with a healthy average sized body and no obsession with diet/fitness. It has made me a happier person and more focused on my own goals instead of comparing constantly to others and feeling like my efforts weren't enough.0 -
Other people on different diets drive me insane when they question everything i eat.. its not allowed in their diet so they think they can jump on my back as soon as they see me pick something up they cant have or just other peoples misconceptions of what i should and shouldnt be eating because im on a det! sometimes hampering me reaching my calorie goals grrrr.
my diet meals only make up around half my calorie intake i have to add dairy salads veg and fruit and a small portion of carbs, i have a treat sometimes but its always within my calories. I just wish they would back off, its not support like they think it is.0 -
I agree. It was frustrating for me because these women were doing all the same things, pretty much, and actually only ONE out of 6-7 ladies had any true success with it, but they were like sheep. They heard me mention MFP when someone asked, and they were all freaking out about how it "doesn't work" (yep clearly all of the people here who have lost weight are just a fluke haha). These same women would end up going for Starbucks or a Snickers at 3 pm because they were "starving"...clearly their diets were not sustainable. I personally think that any small amount of success most of them had was from working out with a PT FIVE TIMES A WEEK! lol If I did that I'd expect to have a rockin' bod ;-)0

When my tight fitting 38 waist jeans got too big for me, and I had to go buy smaller ones. Talk about motivation!0

Sometimes it takes effort
I know i can get down on myself about not losing fast enough or for some event or whatever, but it helps if I set an NSV goal (like running faster times or meeting a friend to run or staying in my calorie range for a week). The smaller successes definitely add up!

About 8 months ago when I started, but then so many bad things started happening all at once, that I ruined the progress and went on a binge. At least I didn't pack it all back, but it was a definite setback from all the progress I had already accomplished.
Back on the horse for good this time.0 -
I started feeling good when my kids said,"Mom I can see your underwear now, your stomach is smaller" lol
At 1st my stomach was hanging over my underwear and you couldn't tell if I was wearing any lol0 -
When my size 36 pants were becoming a little loose and had to tighten up my belt a little more. XL in shirts is becoming a little loose as well.0

When people started noticing. I once read something that said you start seeing a difference in your body at 8 weeks, family does at 12, and friends at 16 weeks.0

I have lost 65#. I have 25# to go. It has been 21 months since I started losing weight. I still don't feel good about it. I will feel good when I'm not fat anymore.0

When I got back into a my non maternity jeans/jeans before pregnancy.....of course I started doing this after I had a child but I had gained almost 50 pounds. It took me 5 months. It was A LOT of work but totally worth it. Now those are way too big.0

When I first started working out, the first thing I ensured to do was to toss out the weight scale I had. I didn't want numbers to define me and in all seriousness I am glad that I tossed it out. Well, to be honest I didn't toss it out, I gave it to my neighbor so that I could weight myself in month like increments as opposed to daily. I personally believed that if I measured my weight everyday, I would get disheartened, and it would be solely to do with gaining water weight. It's been a month since I have started, and I have lost 6lbs and that has been my defining moment. I am going strong ever since.0
