So I am torn at what my next move is... My significant other has decided that he wants to start trying to have kids, while I am over the moon excited about this I am also a little nervous as well. Not just because having a child is a new chapter and a lot of responsibily but more so for the fact that I am two pounds shy of hitting my goal of 20 pounds lost. My overall goal is to drop 60 pounds to get back to a more healthy me. However, I know many people who have gained a lot of weight with their first child and am a little nervous because of this. I do like to exercise on a regular basis but will be a little leary about exercising once I do get pregnant. Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!!

Talk to your OB. She'll tell you your healthy weight and how much you should gain during pregnancy.
Mine was totally honest and told me that if I only gained 20-25 lbs, the weight would come right off. That is not the typical advice but she knew how important obtaining a pre-pregnancy weight was for me.
Only your doc will know what's safe for you, e.g. working out, how much to gain.0 -
Thanks I will be talking to my doc once I find out for sure if I am pregnant or not. I have heard a lot of differnt things baout exercising while trying to get pregnant and exercising once you get pregnant. A lot of stuff out there to research I guess... I was told by a friend that exercising vigorously while trying to get pregnant can actually hurt your chances of getting pregnant... Will have to ask the doctor about that. Just excited, nervous and well I can't even describe how I fell. lol! Thanks for the advice!0

General rule of thumb is that it's okay to continue what your body is used to as far as exercise. You don't want to jump into heavy exercise if you are not doing that now. Being pregnant does not mean that you have to change everything about yourself or lifestyle. Just be smart with it all. When you do become pregnant listen to your body, it'll tell you when you've had enough.0

Your more likely to get pregnant at a healthy weight rather than being over weight or under!
i think most people only gain weight if they go with the myth that they're eating for 2 and use it as an excuse to stuff themselves silly.
A healthy diet and normal portion sizes you may find you lose a little weight to begin with, the average baby alone weighing around 7lbs your definately gonna put on weight, but if your anything like me and have a long labour your gonna burn it off. Plus if you breast feed it will take any weight off after the birth and suck your tummy back in shape.
Good luck and have fun trying0 -
I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice. Turns out that we didnt have to try very hard to get pregnant as I just found out that I am pregnant and about 6 or 7 weeks along! Thanks again for the advice!!0
