I had issues with the pill as well, so I got my tubes tied (I have two kids already).
Best thing I ever did.0 -

You can't get pregnant if you don't have a uterus. Hysterectomy for everyone!0

The pull out method? ... It's worked for me sometimes !
Uhhh... sometimes lol :huh:0 -
I'm broken... can't get pregnant even when I'm trying.
DO YOUR RESEARCH on the birth control your doc suggests. Many have side effects such as stroke and heart disease, especially if you are predisposed to those things because of family history etc. Also, there are tons of class action law suits for many of the methods I've read in the posts in this topic.
Don't wait to talk to someone about those pains. CALL NOW. Get an appointment for THIS WEEK. :ohwell:0 -
When I started back on birth control my doctor gave me only a 3 month supply then I had to get a Pap done to make sure things were ok then the Dr. gave me a full year supply. I had no side effects at all, no water/weight gain either. I like it. Plus keep my period regular and barely have any cramps too.0

Typically only estrogen-dominant bc pills are prescribed as a default, which can mess up a ton of things, without going into a whole list. I would suggest trying a more progestin-heavy (as in, higher proportion of progestin than things like Yaz) to see if you do better.
I had a horrible hormonal imbalance that caused me to have periods all the time and for months in a row, for a full decade because doctors in several different states REFUSED to examine me when I went to their offices. "Oh it will go away" the first time I went in for it. After ten years of dealing with it on my own, I independently figured it out. Sometimes you just gotta take your situation into your own hands.0 -
I did awesome with the pull out method for 5 straight years!
I got pregnant using this method within 3 months! I would definitely not recommend it!
I have never had any chest pains with birth control. I have taken a few different pills, the patch, and depo shot. I started having extreme lack of sex drive on the pill and just had a baby (by choice this time haha) and now am at the point where I have to decide what to do for birth control this time. I just don't know what to do at this point!
You definitely need to discuss this with your doctor and make sure you don't have a serious health condition.0 -
I took loestrin 24 fe for years and loved it but it was discontinued so I am taking lo loestrin which is also a low dose pill. Lower doses work best for me. I was given a high dose pill along time ago and I gained weight and got bad acne from it.0

I've been on BC for over 20 years and no issues like that. Are you sure it's related to the pill? That sounds more like a workout injury (back pain, etc.). Nevertheless, get to your doc!0

I wouldn't recommend the pull-out method....that's how I became pregnant with my second son :blushing:0

I took ortho tricyclen lo for about 2 yrs during college (ages ago) and I remember it took months to get my normally clockwork menstruation schedule back to normal. But it seemed to work all right.
I was on Yaz for about a year, and had no problems and actually lost weight during that time (from healthy eating not just from Yaz hehe)
My ex husband was sterile, so I didn't use birth control for a decade.
At 35 I went on Depo Provera shots and got them exactly according to directions and found myself with an unwanted pregnancy following the third shot. Yep.
After that my boyfriend (now my husband) got a vasectomy so we wouldn't have to deal with that nightmare again and I don't have to use birth control.
All I've honestly heard from friends are total nightmares about whatever birth control methods they choose. A LOT of related health problems especially. A Native American friend of mine wound up in a coma for 3 weeks due to blood clots in her lungs and her doctor scolded her for not "strictly explaining" that she was 3/4 Native as that pill (can't remember which one) has terrible side effects in women with that background. I'd never heard of that before!0 -
OP, if you have been off of them for a year or so it sounds like there is a different issue. It takes 24-48 hours for the pill to leave your system. Maybe the side effects you were experiencing when you started taking them were an underlying issue that was just coincidence that they showed up when they did. Just my $.02, I am definitely not a doctor, but in my unprofessional opinion I think you should see yours. Hope everything is okay for you!!0
