I have been working hard since January so thought I would take a break for my holiday. Just returned from a week away in Cyprus. I ate 3 times a day, light breakfast but thereafter whatever I fancied, including a small dessert a day, plus wine and one cocktail. I expected to gain maybe 2lbs then get back to it (still some way off my goal weight) but 4lbs! In one week?? Disheartened

it'll come off.
Just get back on track. Same thing happens anytime I go on vacation. It's all gone by the next week0 -
In order to gain 4 lbs of fat in one week, you would've had to have eaten 14,000 calories above maintenance. Some of the weight is most likely water weight fluctuations of increased sodium of eating out, drinking, and whatnot. Just drink a bunch of water the next couple of days and get back on track immediately. Re-weigh yourself midway through the week to see from there where you are then.
One way or another, be happy that you enjoyed yourself on vacation. As long as you don't stop now, you'll be making progress again anyway.0 -
Thank you! I know I didnt eat that much! Will re weigh later in the week, but the important thing is to keep going, I know. Thanks to both of you for your encouragement0

Sounds like you were sensible, but most restaurant foods are higher in salt content than homemade food. Also, I'm guessing you planned your vacation around your menstrual cycle and you could just be at your weight peak for the month. Usually during pms. Either way, it's a temporary fluctuation, so don't let it discourage you.0

I doubt it's four "real" pounds, and even if it is, it seems well worth it to not eat only lettuce leaves on vacation. Besides, air travel always makes me puffy for a couple of days. You'll be fine.0

Sounds like time well spent to me :happy:0

You were all right, back to my pre holiday weight so those 4lbs were not real!0

I came back from my August holiday 2kgs up - I guess 2 weeks of beer, wine, cheese, crisps chorizo etc comes at a cost.
But.....it did pretty much all come off within a week or two of coming back. I think its mainly water retention from alcohol and salty foods :-)0 -
I can easily gain 4 lbs between 10am and 2pm.0

I can easily gain 4 lbs between 10am and 2pm.
So of course I make sure to weigh myself at 10.0 -
Plenty of fluids and get yourself back on track! You will definitely get it back off! And remember, most people fluctuate by a few pounds ANYWAY. All the best.0
