Why do I feel guilty if I don't?

Hello Everyone,
I am a rugby player here at my college but the season is coming to an end sadly.
I currently, for about the last 4 weeks, have been running 3-4 miles everyday.
But i have been doing this for nearly 7 days a week and feel soOoOoOoOo GUILTY if i dont run one day.
That usually turns into negative feels the next morning.
Is it really that bad to run everyday? And should i feel guilty if I miss a day?
I do not like negative feelings. anything helps!

I think the guilt just happens once you get into a routine of doing something. You could take a day off running and try substituting some other sort of activity in order to try to avoid the guilt!!0

I think it is good that you feel you have to work out. The fact that you do just means you are motivated and dedicated to yourself.
With that said, taking a day off is a good thing. Without rest, your body doesn't have a chance to rest, and recover. Taking one day off here and there is ok, jsut don't let that turn itno 1 or 2 weeks0 -
I'm in the same boat as you. I have to force myself not to run every single day, and it's hard sometimes. Running everyday isn't good for the body. Your body needs time to heal.0

Its odd to think that i also have to force myself not to run!
i sprained the arch of my foot last month and didnt get to run for a week. Was pure torture.
I think I need to pick a day of the week to dedicate to rest. That way i stick to it.
I just wanna get better and improve! its gonna end up hurting me though
Any other ideas for a substitute?
Or a "rest day"?0 -
jump rope is a good alternative. its as beneficial as running with less impact on your legs/joints:smokin:0

I used to ump rope when i was living at home! My dad swears by it haha
Gotta find a place on campus where i could. Hmmm i dont like people to watch!0 -
A great option (IF you have access to it) is go for a swim on your non-running day/days. It is still cardio, works some of the upper body too, and gives the joints and muscles that are taking a pounding from the running a bit of a break.0

Hmm another great idea! Havent been swimming in a long time. I know there is 2 on campus. Just have to find out where.
Would elliptical be a good option too? because they say u can burn more by doing that but i find i have to work way harder on elliptical to burn the calories.0 -
Try cycling at the gym or a spinning class...something that will give the muscles that you use for running a rest. Swimming is perfect.0
