Simple Homemade Salad Dressing Ideas!

Options
Recently I had lunch with my cousin and with my mixed greens they added olive oil and balsamic vinegar and I loved it! I had never tried it before and it was a nice change from my usual lemon and salt dressing to avoid unwanted calories and fat on my side salads.

So if you have any homemade salad dressings, please share! Thanks!

    I too use a lot of balasmic vinegar - but also I am on a limited budget I save pennies and buy really expensive stuff.
    (The $30 a bottle stuff)
    this is only because not all balsamics are alike and the one I buy mixes so well with:
    Orange juice
    Lemon Juice
    Olive Oil
    Sesame Oil
    Fresh tomato juice
    Garlic, herbs, etc etc.
    I think that Balsamic is a dieters friend although I HATE the "D" word O(((
    There are many many recipes on the net for dressings using this wonderful aged condiment that I dont think I could live without it!
    PS It also emulsifies pretty darn wonderfully with low fat mayonnaise shaken in a jar -poured over fresh thickly sliced tomatoes with torn basil and a smidge of mozzarella..................ohhhh I could go on.................

    Vinegar, lemon juice, olive oil blended with no sugar added preserves..... any will do. Apricots, Blueberries, Strawberries! Yummy and delightful!

    All time fav homemade dressing ! Hands down.
    Use sparingly and toss the salad, not a drizzle or pour type.

    This serves 4.
    1/2 cup mayo
    2 T sugar
    2. T white wine vinegar

    Let sit 1 hour before using.

    I use with a spinach salad.
    Adding bean spouts, red onion, bacon?, sliced water chestnuts, mandarin oranges or pear, toasted almonds or whatever you want.
    Excellent.

    Ditto. Any type of vinegar (my faves are apple cider and red wine) mixed with some olive oil (1 part vinegar:3 parts oil) and a little salt, pepper, lemon or lime to suit your taste! Makes it a new salad every time!

    U can make ranch by using packet from hidden valley and use Greek yogurt in place of mayo..the calories are as little lite dressing and it is just as good as any ranch u can't tell the difference I get the buttermilk packet :D

    I use a really thick balsamic glaze with olive oil. It's delicious on bruschetta as weil as anything that came off the grill. It's my "Frank's", I put that $h!t on everything lol

    Freshly squeezed orange juice (1/4 cup)
    Olive oil (2 tblsp)
    A glob of honey, to emulsify
    Grated orange zest
    Pinch of grated nutmeg

    Shake it until it looks combined. It's lovely.

    You need fats in your diet and olive oil is a good source of monounsaturated fats.

    I have tried this a few times,turned out pretty good.
    100g Fat free fage 0%
    70g Fat free sour cream
    1/2 tsp Dried parsley
    1/8 tsp Dill weed
    1/4 tsp onion powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp ground black pepper
    1/8 tsp garlic powder
    2Tbsp water,add more or less for desired consistency.
    Stats for the whole recipe:
    kCals-115
    Protein -16g
    Fat-0
    Carbs-12g
    I found it off a site.I wish avocado oil was easy to get locally,would like to make salad dressings with it
