I did something really weird today....

I am currently a size UK18, after slimming down from a UK34....the 18's are starting to feel a bit loose, so I'm looking around for a nice pair of size 16 jeans to drape over the bathroom chair, to spur me on :-)

A couple of days ago, I also decided to treat myself to some new tops via an online clothing shop, as my in laws are coming to stay for the weekend and I want to show off my achievement  The new clothes arrived today and I excitedly tried them on....none of them fit! I looked at the sizing labels - they were all size 24. WTF??? Why did I do that??? It's totally thrown me!

Will I have 'fat girl mentality' forever???

For those of you who have lost significant amounts of weight - how long did it take you to really truly realise that you're weren't fat anymore?

I've lost 47 pounds and still look for the largest pair of ANYTHING when I shop. Hahaha! But hopefully it doesn't last forever! I'm trying to teach myself to stop EATING like a fat girl, so hopefully that mentality dies out over time!

PS, congrats on your loss =]

Depends. If I order online a brand I don't know, I look at the size chart and go a bit wider, but I frankly avoid it at this point. When shopping in store I try the smallest I think I will fit in first. Went straight for a M dress today and it fit perfectly (I don't have the bone structure to ever fit in a S I think).

But if I see the clothes in front of me without the label I still have a hard time believing I will fit in them. It just seems so tiny.

Thank you, that's kind of you :-)

Yes, that's what I always did when I was really fat - I automatically picked up the biggest size a shop did. Just hope I'm not going to be like this for ever!

I wonder if it's a form of self preservation? Just in case the size we think/hope we are isn't really the case?
