Since October 1 I have done the following to lose some weight:
Given up alcohol
Limited myself to 1200 calories a day
Exercised by doing cardio burning 300-400 calories each session
I weighed myself this morning and I had actually put on 1 pound! I am really really fed up and don't know what else I am supposed to do in an attempt to lose the 2 stone I want to get rid of!!
Anyone out there got any ideas???
I would really appreciate some help as I don't want to waste another month without seeing any results!
Thanks

Try eating back your exercise calories. Start there.0

I have always heard that if you are doing something for a while and it's not working, you need to change it up. It sounds to me that you are eating too few calories. Eventually your body will stop loosing weight when this happens. I suggest you increase your intake at least a few days a week and see what happens. There are lots of other posts about people doing this with great success.0

might be the types of foods your eating within those 1200 calories. 200 calories of bread, pasta, cakes and such will react differently in our bodies than 200 calories worth of vegetables.0

everyone will ask you to open your diary so they can see what you've been logging.
1200 calories is painfully low imo. Are you making sure to eat those exercise calories back? So eating 1500-1600 on days where you exercise?0 -
Eat more. Lift as well as cardio!0

We'll need to see your diary and a bit more info before speculating.0

I cut out meat for one week and that triggered my body to start loosing weight again. I am not a vegetarian but this honestly was pretty easy to do, maybe your body is in a rut mine was and if it happens again I'm going to try something else to remind it who it BOSS!0

Your diary isn't open, so I can only speculate, but it sounds like you aren't eating back your exercise calories which in effect means you are actually getting less than 1200 cals. Start by eating back 50-75% of these exercise calories and see if that makes a difference.
If you are in fact eating back your exercise calories then the comment above about changing it up is great. Sometimes you just need to kick start your body and this can be done with a change like mentioned above. Whether that be a change in exercise routine (i.e. swimming for a week instead of weights) or a change in diet is up to you.0 -
Usually it is due to overestimating calories burned, and underestimating calories eaten. Measure and weigh everything accurately, and if you are using the MFP database for calorie burns, only eat back half. As they can been drastically inflated.0

1. Do you use a food scale?? You would be surprise what a tablespoon of peanut butter is.
2. Do you track every bite and nibble you eat?
That can add up to a lot of calories.
You need to figure out your BMR and TDEE, 1200 calories is not enough!!

Good luck. :happy:0 -
Are you maybe gaining muscle? Do your clothes fit better?0

looked at your diary, several things you can change to make a difference, no sugar at all, unless it is a piece of fruit, no bread, eat plain oatmeal or brown rice, healthy fats, ( olive oil, nuts, avocado) no croissant's, did you see how much fat was in that? high protein, chicken , lean ground turkey, fish.. Eating healthy can be boring, but do you want to be lean & healthy or do you want to eat what you want? I would also go low sodium as you can retain several pounds of water a day from excess. and bust your butt from exercise. cardio & weightlifting.... goodluck....0

O'K

Since October 1 I have done the following to lose some weight:
Given up alcohol
Limited myself to 1200 calories a day
Exercised by doing cardio burning 300-400 calories each session
I looked at your diary - first three days were well over 1200, then there was an empty day, and then an incomplete day.
Unless your starting weight is in the neighbourhood of 400 pounds, you are also grossly overestimating your exercise calories.0
