How long does it take to see weight loss

I have a friend who tell me she having problems of losing weight it only been two weeks. I told her she need to give it sometime maybe a month. Does anyone know how long does it take to see a weight loss? Does it takea month or so to see a weight loss?

If you have a lot to lose it can be a matter of days. If you have a little to lose you'll see small amounts over time. The biggest reason why someone doesn't lose over a 2 week period when just starting out is that they aren't really sticking to the diet.0

You can start losing from the first week if you know your numbers and have done enough to create a deficit.
Otherwise, within a couple of weeks.0 -
Depends on the diet.
People who adopt a low carb diet tend to lose a lot of water weight early on, within a few days.
People who start a diet with an exercise routine at the same time can sometimes see the scale go UP temporarily as their body stores water and glycogen in the muscles to fuel itself for the next workout and repair from the previous workout.
People with a small deficit are going to see the scale move a lot slower.
But in the end, I would create a healthy deficit, and ignore the scale for the first few weeks (because it is likely just water movement).0 -
By "see a weight loss" do you mean in terms of the number of the scale or in terms of outward physical appearance?
Scale weight should go down in the first week or so.
If your friend is wondering when the changes will be noticeable, this is entirely individual and often depends on starting size and how much LBM that person has (eg men typically have more LBM than women so weight loss is normally noticeable in men sooner). Some people will see a difference after 5lb loss, some after 10lb loss, some people may need to lose 20lb+ to notice a difference.0 -
It took me over a month - probably closer to 6 weeks - before I saw even a few lbs going away. Then I stalled for another month, and now I'm seeing it again (4th month). I've lost only 5 lbs, because I was having a hard time sticking to things consistently, and because I gained alittle after starting to work out (darn muscles weigh so much lol).
How strict you are plus your body chemistry determines how quickly you will see it start, but in my experience it usually takes at least a few weeks. The turtle wins the race too - slow steady weight loss is supposed to be easier to keep off in the long run than dropping weight really quickly. My goal is to lose it slowly as I reshape my body with strength training.0 -
Also, it depends on how big or thin your friend is. The more extra weight your body carries, the quicker it starts to melt off when you change things. But if she is already closer to a healthy weight, like me, it takes longer to start and it comes off more slowly.0

Took me 2 weeks judging from physical features and going by clothes as I don't have a scale.0

I still dont see it except for my scale, and its been 5 months. Others just now started noticing this month, maybe because of my height0

I have been using MFP for 4 weeks ... I don't really see it ... but at my smallest weight I still thought I was fat ... so who knows0
