Getting in shape for a fight

I'm currently at 94kg and looking to compete this year in some Kickboxing and MMA tournaments. Whilst I have pretty good cardio and strength my main problem is the fact I weight over 85kg which puts me in a category with the monsters. I don't want to crash diet and sweat out weight but drop body fat. My main problem is the snacks in the day and socialising with work, so I'm starting now and going to try and lose 2 pounds a week if I can.

Good luck you can do it!!! Definitely eat clean!!! No empty calories! I eat protein every 3 hours and drink a TON of water!0

I used to compete in Thai-boxing fights so I can understand why a lighter weight is more appealing! What would you say is your natural weight? I used to fight at 150lbs any lower than that I found it hard to maintain the weight and my training suffered.
If I had to make weight for a fight I would go low carb, just eating carbs with first 2 meals of the day. I'd sweat the last 7lbs out in a suna and rehydrate after the weigh in. Keep us posted and goodluck if you decided to step in the ring/octagon0 -
What weight class are you trying to compete in?0

Hi just. A note to say I got to the weight I wanted 85kg and won my fight I have since gone and put some back on as I you do, but happy the process went well. I'm back in the weight reduction phase again to get back down to 85kg. I did it last time by all the suggested methods in your posts, lots of cardio, water and eating clean. I found weighted cardio work outs were best to keep power and cardio up while reducing weight.0

That's awesome! I would love to one day do an mma fight as well. For my height I'd have to drop around 40-45lbs so I wasn't in the cage with monsters as well and that just isn't going to happen lol0

ha thats my worry as well. I'm 6'2 but not a hudge muscle bound unit, but im not skinny either. So if I fought at my natural weight say 91kg ish I would have to go against the people who are as wide as they are tall. By cutting a bit of weight I can have the advantage of size, weight.and reach. Or at least I hope to.0
