I have been starting my warm ups at the gym on the treadmill. I do 10 minutes and I walk for the first two, then go up a hill (number 7) for the next one, then back down and try and run full pelt for the next 30 seconds then back to the beginning. Today I managed to run at 13.9km/hour for the full 30 seconds, and when I go there I decided to go for 45 seconds, and then I went for 60!
I did it!!! :noway:
A whole minute at nearly 14km/hour!
I then went on to repeat and did the next run at 11.9 before doing the rest of my circuit.
It's only a small victory, but it's MINE!

    That's great! =D

I dislike the treadmill, though I have noticed that my elliptical work-out (2-minute intervals at different speeds) makes running a lot easier for me. I used to be really bad at it...

Your 30-second intervals might work for me as well. I'll sure give it a try =) And maybe I can add the same success story to this forum some day!

    Gail, thats brilliant!

I too struggle with running, but have been trying this week to get jogging.

I managed to get up to 12 minutes jogging (8mph) last night. two 5 min intervals and one 2 min interval with power walking breaks.

I just dont understand why I can't do it. I can do other excercises for prolonged lengths of time!

But I'm going to try to keep building it up!

If I can get to 20 mins (in 4 intervals) by Christmas...I'll be happy!
