Calories or type?

Can the type of food cause you to gain weight, or is it simply just calories in VS calories out? For example, I know Nutella isn't one of the greatest things to be eating because of the amount of sugar it has and other ingredients (especially if you're consuming two tablespoons most of the time and not just one), but I keep hearing and reading mixed messages about it... "It's calories in VS calories out. Eat what you feel like, just as long as it doesn't make you eat too much over your maintenance calories" and, "Yes, it matters! Stay away from anything like Nutella or certain fats, carbs, ect! Keep it out of the house!" ect ect......
I've noticed ever since introducing Nutella back into my life (it was a fear food for me for years and I recently overcame it..), I've gained weight. Maybe I should just use less of it and don't eat it as often as I am? I put it on three Weetabix biscuits with some no sugar added Greek yogurt, unsweetened vanilla almond milk and cinnamon. Or, i put it on my egg white oatmeal with the Greek yogurt and cinnamon. Even a whole wheat Nutella Sandwich with Plain 0% Greek yogurt by Oikos with cinnamon.
Maybe I should start using less Nutella and only two Weetabix when I feel like having that? Maybe even less yogurt, too... But for the rest of the days I'm not having that, I can go back to eating my breakfast I use to before I gained the weight and size which was oat bran cooked with liquid egg whites, cinnamon, unsweetened almond milk and topped with the no sugar added Greek yogurt, dark chocolate dreams natural peanut butter with cherry mixed berries...
Is it also possible that it's water retention from simply having Nutella again after all these years of not having it? Maybe it's my body adjusting to it? Can water weight add a whole pound or more?

i think the type makes a huge difference. i notice better results on lower carb diet. you also can feel more full, types of food make a difference, never eat carbs on thier own, always include a protein or fat along with it to slow the digestion. youtube smash the fat, he does an over eat experiment of low carb high fat moderate protein and didnt gain weight.0

It really is as simple as calories in calories out.
People like to demonize foods - but anything you eat over maintenance will make you gain weight - carbs, protein, fat or sugar (which is a carb)
Your nutella is fine as you have been told several times in the threads you start about it.
And if you are in recovery aren't you suppose to be gaining weight?
I would suggest getting professional help with your recovery if you are panicking about food and weight gain. But congrats on taking the first steps :flowerforyou:0 -

Utter nonsense - please ignore this and do not watch the stupid youTube video, it was a vanity experiment that proves nothing. While you may feel better doing low carb it is the simple fact of eating less calories form wherever you chose that make you lose weight.
Not to mention the op is in recovery from an ED - and does not need to lose weight or feel fuller on less food. :noway:0 -
