I want to know if anyone else understands where I am coming from....I like to keep my calories on the lower end, maybe around 1400-1500 a day because it restricts me more-meaning if I have less calories, I eat less crap. I was told by soooo many people that me being 4 ft 10 & still weighing 192 that I need more calories than that so I decided to start back eating closer to my TDEE-20 & and above my BMR which puts me at about 1700 calories a day...I dnt want to eat 1700 everyday-it makes me paranoid that it is too much food so I decided to eat 1500 on non workout days and 1700 on days I workout. I feel like at 1700, it gives me too much leadway to eat things that are not so healthy sometimes. I know that I am not perfect and only human but when my calories are lower-for some reason I eat less crap!!
I normally workout on the lower end of about 30-35 min burning anywhere from 160-250 each time about 4 times a week. Nothing strenuos (health reasons) so I figured I really didn't need alot of food

You can eat what you want, as long as it's within your calorie goal. However, if you eat a lot of high calorie foods, it may leave you feeling hungry, because you can't eat as much high calorie foods. Healthier, high fiber foods, like fruits and vegetables, as well as lean meats, will leave you feeling fuller, longer. Increasing your calories does not mean you have to eat junk food. You can have a simple protein shake, which is about 200-300 calories, depending on if you add anything to it. 200-300 calories is seriously not that big of a difference.0

What is your Question?0

Thanks for your reply. I am working on getting my protein higher. I have a problem always being over in carbs so me seeing that in the red everyday makes me really feel I am doing bad.You can eat what you want, as long as it's within your calorie goal. What is your Question? My question was SIMPLE...Anyone else have a problem where more calories also cause you to eat more junk food?
My Answer: Only when we want Junk food, I do not look at food as junk, it is nothing more than a collection of Macros, some are higher in protein and some in Carbs. Honestly I do not really see any issues with the way you are doing this other than your attitude about food. Junk food in moderation will keep you from binging.0 -
Thanks..It's like when I see the macros go over in the red, I freak and it is sooo hard staying under, watching carbs and all that at the same time..I watch sodium because I have high blood pressure but I am trying to learn to not be so hard on myself. Like today I am over like 36 in carbs and that made me stressWhat is your Question? My question was SIMPLE...Anyone else have a problem where more calories also cause you to eat more junk food?

& I agree with you 100% that junk food in moderation will prevent bad binges..I try to do like baked chips instead of regular, protein chocolate bars instead of snickers, wheat instead of white breads..just some examples, so I am trying to make better choices for the cravings I get sometimes..I even do like to 90 calorie Fiber One brownies instead of regular brownies..All that makes a difference I am sure but I still seem to beat myself up.What is your Question? My question was SIMPLE...Anyone else have a problem where more calories also cause you to eat more junk food?

I just started the 1700/1500 calorie decision about 3 days ago..I started mfp at 1500, then went to 1300 then to 1700 and then felt that was too much food and stopped and now going back to it..lol...I lose when I first make changes and then stop. LIke now, I haven't lost weight since 10/4 but my whole journey so far has been this way..I dnt lose every wk and never have except at the very beginning..Alot of things that can be the reason behind it..health reasons, cheat meals or days, changing calories too much and not sticking with one plan long enough..just alot..But my main discussion is that it seems when I am allowed more food that is when I make poor choices the most which cld hurt me weight loss wise..Carbs are really what is always over for me everyday or most of my daysHow much are you losing on average a week out of interest?0

I would try to stick with a calorie target that makes it easier for you to adhere to. 1,500 calories is not unreasonable based on your stats.0 -

My body is really screwy too! I'll fluctuate for a week, maybe even 2 or 3, and then all of a sudden, I lose like 2-4lb's! I do eat a lot of sodium, though, so I probably retain water pretty often.0 -

I wish I was one that could eat low like 1200 but I can't..At 1300 a day I was starving..I say 1700 when I exercise but with me burning maybe 170-220 exercising I worry if 1700 is too much even on the exercise days.I just started the 1700/1500 calorie decision about 3 days ago..I started mfp at 1500, then went to 1300 then to 1700 and then felt that was too much food and stopped and now going back to it..lol...I lose when I first make changes and then stop. My weight is pretty swingy also. Look at the longer term trends rather than day to day or week to week. Often weight loss will stall, and then suddenly you have a whoosh.
