Hey everyone!
I'm a 25 year old male from the Midwest. I'm 5'8" and weigh roughly 200 lbs. About a month ago I was hospitalized for depression and now I'm back home with my family, who are taking incredibly good care of me. In order to get my life back on track I sincerely want to start an exercise program and change my diet along with therapy and medication. I'm currently in the reading stage of journey and want to feel comfortable with my start before I get in over my head. I'm hoping that exercise and diet can help improve my mood and subsequently help with my depression.
A couple of goals that I'm sorting out for myself are to start a steady, healthy exercise plan. Implement a healthy diet that will provide me with good energy and help reduce inflammation. And to run a 5K in a couple of months (something I've always wanted to do). For the 5K I'm going to try the C25K plan. After the C25k plan is accomplished I would like to move on to a plan for overall weight loss and muscle building (but I'm not looking that far ahead right now). I'm still looking for a good diet plan that will work best for me. I really want a plan that will help with general weight loss, but also inflammation and to some extent help with anxiety.
I'm really grateful for a website like this because it gives me a starting place. I don't have many friends to work out with or talk about dieting, so I'm going to rely heavily on anyone who wants to help.
I know that this journey isn't a sprint. I'm not going to concern myself with dropping a lot of weight or to have a really toned body. Don't get me wrong, that would be amazing, but for right now I'm only focusing on building a good foundation for a healthier future.
Thanks everyone.

Hi kiddo,
So happy you decided to start anew and change your life style
... Love the way you have planed your goals and I'm sure you will reach them soon enough
... Having a family that loves and supports you is very important and we are all just an added extension to what you already have at home
...
Feel free to add me  ...
BTW, I'm doing a 5k DIVA RUN tomorrow
... I'm a newbie at running but I started training (not with C25k) a couple of months ago with the help of my hubby, who's an incredible runner ( 5.3 minute mile) and I'm doing a 3 mile run in 40 minutes... Hopefully i can do better tomorrow as far as the time, but if I don't it doesn't matter what matters is that i did it :drinker: ...
Best of luck with your journey my young friend
...
Taking a step at a time to reach my goal always :flowerforyou: ...

Hey welcome aboard

Know where you are coming at - I'm starting slow too! But I can't run at the moment (I have plantar fasciitis and recovering from that). But yes, I want to challenge myself in a couple of months (depending on fitness level and my foot) to do either a 30DS or INSANITY.
As my foot has been inflammed I have been adding items in my diet to deal with this (I suggest walnuts and items with high Omega-3 (like salmon).
Most happy to help. I've been reading nutritional info for Months and my eyes were about to go crossed. I'm still fairly new (done this for just over a month and lost 4kg (or 8 lbs)
I've been working out which foods keep me full for longer (so I'm less likely to crave food) etc.
Anyway, feel free to add me
