Bread or Rice?

I'm wondering because I have a friend who stopped eating rice for dinner and she lost weight and looks really good. Is bread a better substitute for rice? (And I really love bread and I prefer it over rice) Any feedback? Thanks

I'm Asian so I'll take rice over bread anyday. And weight loss comes down to calorie deficit and not just elimination of a food. In other words one could stop eating bread and rice, but still overeat calories from ice cream or dairy products and not lose weight.

Thanks.
Oh, and I'm Asian too ^_^0 -
Rice is my biggest weakness! Ever since I was little my family has called me "rice queen." I would always complain when my mom cooked a dinner without rice. She would say "But we have potatoes" or "we have pasta" and I would always say "so what! I want rice too."
I'll be giving up rice at least while I start my diet and exercise regimen because if I have rice around I know that I won't be able to control my portions. Hopefully I'll see results like your friend did.0
