I know there are a million and one out there.
OK I have my activity set to active (so I have a start of 1540 calories) (I work at Costco and I'm standing a good portion of my work day, or walking. I also wear a fitbit, so by the time I get home and it syncs it gives me roughly 500 workout calories back (less if I'm cashiering and really not moving).
So I guess what I'm asking, which is more important, total calories or net?
Thanks!!!

If you use a Fitbit and want to use the adjustment aren't you supposed to set your MFP goal to sedentary then let Fitbit calculate all your extra activity?0

This. You're double counting your calories because the "active" setting already accounts for calories burned on your job. Either stop syncing the fitbit and only log actual workouts or change your activity level to sedentary.
To answer your question, using the MFP method, net calories are the focus but you have to be careful not to underestimate your intake or overestimate your burn.0 -
