Lost Control

I'm usually pretty good at keeping my diet at bay and not over-indulging in food. This weekend has been particularly bad. I overate yesterday, having chinese food and a BIG piece of birthday cake, and today I ate a bunch of chips and dip and had pop with my husband. It tastes so good at first, but after I have it, I feel so defeated and so frustrated that I let myself do that.
Anyone else here gone through that? If so what did you do?

Oh have I EVER! LOL
I just get back to it! I own up to what I did and decide to recommit IMMEDIATELY! Every day is a new chance to start over. You're not perfect, no one is, and we ALL slip up from time to time. Just learn from it, own it, and move on! 2 days won't unravel all your hard work but giving up will! So get back on it, girl!
Feel free to friend me if you'd like!0 -
I'm sure all of us have done that. It's frustrating, but it's probably inevitable. Don't get bogged down in the shame of it, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on. I usually feel better after a few days of eating like that because it feels like I've "scratched an itch" and now I can get back to business. You've done an incredible job so far, you definitely CAN turn this train around. As Nike says, JUST DO IT!0

I've lost control too. I've had a bad week and gained 2lbs it seems. I used up all my calories for today, now I have to fast 'til noon tomorrow. I take Seroquel to sleep and it makes me ravenous! I HAVE to take it... I'm not sure what to do.0

Don't be too harsh on yourself! Going wrong so now and then doesn't mean your diet failed immediately. You enjoyed it, it happened, can't be turned back and now back to business! In the end you will be the defeater! Believe me even the most die hard dieter will have his/her weaker days.0

Just accept that it happened and then try to be good again. Overeating once doesn't make it so that you can never get back on the wagon. Just own it and move on. I had about a quarter of a cookie cake on Saturday and it was delicious, today I made sure to work a little harder in the gym, lol.0

It happens regularly.....it is a part of the process! Just as long as it is not every day!0

Isn't it awesome that each day we get to start again and make different decisions than the day before? One food based binge isn't going to destroy you. And if you felt horrible as a result of it, chances are you might make a different decision next time. Win.0

The worst thing that you can do is to give up. I've gotten to that point many times over the last 8 years of weight loss/ maintaining. I had a particularly bad semester my senior year where I ate my feelings and overtrained. Take a deep breath, figure out a game plan and refocus.... then just keep on trucking. You chose to do this as a lifestyle change not as a temporary thing so just get back to the lifestyle and don't beat yourself up about it0

did you enjoy yourself? sometimes it is nice to take a small break.
Since you are eating at a deficit (i assume) you probably ate at maintenance for a few days.
Just start logging again.
you need to be able to enjoy life and not have to be perfect.0 -

Nothing. It happened....cant change it. Today is a new day. The question is, what are you going to do about it now?
Beat yourself up over it? Or put it behind you and carry on?0 -
Yep, just this weekend. I at a coffee cup full of cookie dough and was MISERABLE when it was gone. My heart of racing and my skin was bloated. It was awful. Now that I think about it, it didn't really taste that great either!0

Get back on the wagon and move forward, don't let that slip up become a trend or habit. Good luck!0

I would be surprised if ANYONE here has not had a bad day. I think that we all have a bad day here and there.
But the main thing is to just not let it bother you .. it is only one day, and more often than not doesn't result in any real weight gain.
I have binged .. and do I get sad. Well maybe for a few minutes after but I don't beat myself up over it .. there is no sense getting emotional over it. Tomorrow is another day .. just pick yourself up and start fresh the next day.
The sun always rises to start a new day .. a day where you can have success.0 -
Been there - done that!!! I got to my goal weight and stopped weighing myself, logging food and exercise and reading these motivational posts. Found 10 extra lbs had crept back on. I did the old - tomorrow game but realized it never came. I am back on track and found out that Today is my best friend.
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.0 -
Thanks everyone! This isn't the first time either, Usually happens once every few weeks or so. Like today I'm having bread for the first time in awhile and i'm feeling guilty for it. Trying not to, but it's hard when you are trying to make the best choices that you can!0
