verizon wireless users? Data usage?

If you use a decent amount of data can you tell me about how many GB you're averaging each month? My husband and I currently have a basic phone family plan with Sprint and we're thinking of changing to a smartphone plan with Verizon but I'm not sure how much data I should put on the plan. I tried using their data calculator but it didn't help much since we don't currently use smartphones or other wireless devices other than our basic phones. Thanks.

You can go to sprint.com and under your account I believe you can look at your past and current monthly usage. That should give you a pretty good idea. I know I can look at everyone on my plans usage.

yes but right now I only have a basic phone plan, not a data plan, so I don't actually have any data usage on my phone.

We have the family plan through Verizon and my wife and I use about a GB a month. We don't stream any videos from Netflix or such, but the boys to check out YouTube, and we use FB, email, Web often.

I average about 1g a month my 18 year old son averages about 2g but he uses wi fi at home and where ever available. We are getting ready to upgrade and have to change plans. I will probably start with 4 or 6g for four of us. Key is use wi fi whenever available.

Start at the low end and you can always go up. They send you a message when you get close to going over your data allowance. Then you can call them and change your plan or stop using data if needed at that point.

If you have WiFi at home and don't really go out then you won't use much data.

If you're always out and think you'll constantly be browsing, checking e-mail, searching things, etc., then your data usage can range from 1gb to 10gb.

Videos add a lot of data so if you commit to not watch videos while on the 4G then your usage will stay low.

There's no way anyone can tell you how you're going to use it. Try it out for the first month, start with the lowest data, monitor your usage (Verizon sends you texts when you reach 50%, 75%, 90%) and increase it if need be.

p.s. I'm part of a shared plan with 5 people. We don't really use it heavily (I told them all to not watch videos on 4G). We share 2GB comfortably. Sometimes we'll reach 95% usage, but it's always in the last day or 2 of the billing cycle.

I have a Phablet (Samsung Galaxy Note II).

I use it extensively, everything from email, to IM's to Skype and a lot of web browsing..

    Pretty much every day.

I also use it as a hot-spot for my old iPhone to stream music (long story) and upload workout data (Endomondo).

Most months I am under about 10GB.

    Luckily I have unlimited data/minutes/sms

We have 4 phones on our plan, all smart phones. 2 teenagers and we share 4 GB but we use wifi in the house. We've never gone over but you can track it and if you get close to going over you can call them and increase the amount so you avoid paying overage.

Start low and increase it. I burn through 7-10 gigs a month but I blame 4G in my area enabling me.
