hi everyone, its my first day here on MFP. a friend of mine suggested for me to try this site. So, as the heading states, i was really heavy back in August but since then I have managed to lose about 17lbs :drinker: so i am pretty short (5'0) and i now weigh 127-128. My main concern is to lose my belly fat. I know there is no special exercise to "target" that area, but i am feeling a bit discouraged. though my family says its getting smaller (i think they are just saying that cause i am so worried about it) it hasnt gone down much. My jeans are the same size, so i figure my belly fat has not gone down. I keep thinking the only resolution to make my belly totally flat, or close to flat, is undergoing surgery such as liposuction. am i right or will it get flatter with diet?

Well it all depends on your body. Some people just won't get a flat belly BUT nutrition is KEY! Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym! Focus on eating clean while you work out and give it time. It doesn't happen overnight, that's for sure!

I constantly worked out and could not get that last little pooch gone. So I started doing cardio! I read that doing cardio would help burn and eliminate that last bit of pudge I had. One of the cardio exercises that was recommended was cycling/spinning. So I started taking the spinning class at my gym. Loved it so much I bought a bike and started cycling! This along with different types of crunches and eating right I finally had no belly fat!!! You can do this! DO NOT let others tell you what you can or can't do! Obviously they haven't even tried!!
After being diagnosed with Melanoma Level 4 (Skin Cancer) in June of 2010 I had gone through plenty. This did not give me the opportunity to go to the gym or ride my bike. So of course I gained 15 pounds and lost my abs. Now, thanks to a new nutritional supplement I discovered, I have my energy back and I am down 10 lbs! I walk 3 miles on most mornings, I ride my bike 20 miles, I snow shoe in the winter and I've even done a 14 mile hike this summer. Cancer can take a lot out of you and the supplement I take gave me back what Cancer tried to take from me! Plus, I am determined to get back into shape!!! And you will too!! You got this!
